  • They require you to send R85 forms in the POST, which is a functionality failing for an internet bank. Santander, Nationwide both allow online. No doubt others do too. That said, 6% interest is worth sending one form in the post.

They've got nothing on Co-Op. I think Co-Op's website was made in 2005 by a 14 year old and he was paid in chocolate.

Or rather a chocolate kettle lol!

Grow up. It's a website, not a matter of life or death.

A tremendous exposition on the subject, full of colourful narrative and well argued reason, veering just the right side of patronising drivel. Very well done!

It's obviously down to personal taste as Barclays irritates me and I think its clunky / not logical but Halifax is very easy to use and doesn't have that awful calculator thingy.

First Direct/M&S and Coop's internet banking are pretty dire too.

I like my Barclays online banking. Halifax is awful and I have complained about it to them before.

    Wait until you try HSBC's.
  • First Direct and M&S bank are subsidiaries of HSBC so you'd expect their websites to be the same ( like Natwest and RBS). I suspect HSBC is working on streamlining them all.
  • As a long-time FD customer I guess I've just got used to the layout of their online banking but I'd have to agree that whilst functional it does need an overhaul to make it more user-friendly and logical in my opinion.

In the past this was less of an issue as stuff could be sorted very quickly and efficiently by phone but this is changing. Until about a year or go I found calls were always answered within 3-5 rings with no automated system which was ace! These days it takes much longer. Maybe FD has become a victim of it's own success. Still I'm in no hurry to move at the moment as I still think they are the best of the bunch.
