Finally a question. to those who do tilly tidys. Do you put all the little bits in a seperate account to save them up for an OP or just put them straight into your mortgage account. I have unlimited OP's so in theory could just put them in but it would seem a little mad putting in a few pence. What do you think save them up in an account and then transfer over when at say £10 or do every little one. Also how often do you do TT's, once a week or every time you log onto internet banking?

At the minute i pay straight to mortgage to save temptation. I also do the whole small change thing and wait till i get £5 before paying.
A suggestion would be to wait till your tilly tidies hit the level of your daily interest before paying it. That way you can proudly state that you have no no interest for that particular day :D

That's a really good idea, I will just have to find an account to pop it into. Maybe that Barclays account that I've been threatening to close!

I just use an everyday internet saver that's linked to current account. That way its set up in minutes and transfers are easily done on my phone where needed.

  • That's what my Barclays account is so should work a treat. I've set up the Barclays account as a recipient in each of my other accounts and transferred my first tidy up to the Barclays account of a £3.08!

Only issue is that I've just blocked myself out of my Barclays internet banking!!! What a twit! So I can't do transfer to my mortgage until I get that sorted. Will try and work out my daily interest rate as SJ said and transfer when I get to that amount.
  • Not a bad day, not a NSD as I needed coffee and something sweet this morning as not feeling great.

I've bid on 2 £20 loans on funding circle which should finish tomorrow. This is from my £50 referral money so it will actually be a bit more when the interest is added from the loan. As I'm snowballing all FC receipts it all adds up.

    Jobs to do....
    1. Keep Barclays savings account for TT's but reset internet banking.
    2. Keep check for BFs SIPP monthly payments to start.
    3. Obsess about my S&S ISA every day now my first payment has gone through.
    4. Write a blog post or 2 this week.
    5. Apply for amazon associates for my blog.
    6. Ring mystery diner company to apply for first mystery dining I got emailed today.
  • Forgot to say. Signed up for the 2 introduction to counselling courses and deposit for both (£130) will be paid next payday. This will be out of personal spends next month so will be limiting my personal spends again but I'm used to it!

Will try to add an additional £100 to savings this (and every) month from personal spends as if I like the counselling the next course is a couple of grand!

Still aiming for £400 OP too!
  • Nearly a NSD but took miniOCC to his squash class and had coffee whilst I was there so £5 spent.

    Jobs to do....not much progress.

    1. Keep Barclays savings account for TT's but reset internet banking. - forgot yet again.
    2. Keep check for BFs SIPP monthly payments to start. - nothing to report as yet, will chase in about a week
    3. Write a blog post or 2 this week. - one and a half done. Not a great deal of inspiration this week but I'll prob have a load of inspiration next week to make up for it.
    4. Apply for amazon associates for my blog.
    5. missed out on mystery dining this time :-(

What is your blog occ? I must dip in.

On reading your, and a couple of other diaries, I dipped into the world of p2p, looking forward to the ride!

Investment mortgage, 164k July 2038 MF date.
  • Yay I'm glad to have helped. P2P is quite a lot of fun.

My blog is http://stretchyourpennies.blogspot.co.uk in fact you inspired my last post!

In other blog news applied and got accepted onto amazon affiliates so need to work out how to get them working for me. Tried to add a link with limited success! May generate a few extra pennies which would be good. I don't do the blog for money but to motivate myself and others but want to generate enough to pay for a domain name, hosting etc.
