Thanks SJ I've got a post on tracing old pensions too on there. In case you've any of those lying around.

Jobs I'm trying to catch up on.....

    1. Keep Barclays savings account for TT's but reset internet banking. - Rang up to reset the login and order a little card thingy.
    2. Keep check for BFs SIPP monthly payments to start. - nothing to report as yet, will chase in about a week
    3. Write a blog post or 2 this week. - one and a half done. Not a great deal of inspiration this week but I'll prob have a load of inspiration next week to make up for it.
    4. Applied and approved for amazon associates :-) if you feel the need to buy from amazon you know where to click!

I've made some jam strawberry and gooseberry from the garden. I'm waiting for the dishwasher to stop so I can jar it up. Should make a few jars and cost about £1.

    nothing much else to declare.

Ed. just noticed blog is a few page views off 4000!
  • Personal spends payday! I actually have a bit of money again. Will pay deposit for counselling courses Monday and a couple of school holiday things then try to spend as little as poss! Leftover will go to OP, this last month it was £2! I'm gonna smash that this month!

In very special news I won a pass for 4 to local museums. Worth £23.50 and good for a day out in the holidays.

OP of £2 made to the mortgage!
  • Spent about £5 today on snacks as I was unorganised this morning and didn't pack any snacks and drinks as I was running late. Also £3 on footie subs. Not bad for a Saturday.

Sold 3 jars of jam so £3 for holiday fund :-) I'm currently making some chutney from courgettes in the garden. I also made a couple of jars of black current jam from fruit from the garden.

Ordered some gift tags from eBay for 99p for 100. Yay cheap as chips.

Nothing much else to report on the MSE front. Will be spending some £ tomorrow as I've gotta get some turf to get rid of a border in our garden. It's all prepped just need to get it done.
  • Went out last night to local (gastro) pub with vouchers that came from BFs not so miniOCC. The miniOCC was at grandparents as I'd had words for neglecting him for the last few months, 6 year olds just don't understand why you disappear off their radar for months on end. Anyhow the pub is very posh so we don't go often but it's very nice and we can walk home in 30 seconds!

Whilst at said meal sold 2 jars of jam for £2.60. That's 5 this weekend! Into the holiday fund!

Off to buy turf this morning which will be costing us but we've gotta do it at some point!
  • I've updated my sig to reflect all of the things I'm currently thinking are important at the moment.

Also added to my first ever post a running total so that I can check year on year. I'm thinking of ways I can motivate myself in the longer term as its a marathon not a sprint this MWF malarkey.
  • Well today didn't end up being as spends as expected. Went to notcutts had a breakfast treat for us two as miniOCC was still at GP's. Just £10 spent though. They had no turf left but the lovely man working there told us where they get it from so we went direct to source and it was almost half the price of notcutts. Total spend on turf £30! Total today £40! Was expecting it to be double that.

Afternoon spent laying the turf and we were very careful with waste so did a bit more than we'd hoped so that was fantastic. Just watering like mad now and hopefully we will get some rain in the next few days or it will be watering every evening.

    Nothing much else to report!
  • Not a great deal to report today but I paid the deposit for counselling courses (£130) and went to library to borrow some of the books to start reading.

Went and got the bus home after and only got charged for a junior! At 41 I was more than chuffed, it must have been as I was carrying a armful of books! 90p saved on the fare!

Banked £50 which we've been saving into the holiday fund jar. A lot if this has come from my selling of preserves. Holiday fund now £295. No actual plans for this yet.
  • am a tiny bit annoyed with myself as I have been using my CC and paying off what we've been spending as I was under the impression as the payments in came off the newest spends (as it did with my old CC) anyhow long story short it has been coming off the 0% balance and this month I have had to pay interest only about £15 but a bit annoying.

I don't have the money to pay off the full 0% amount so have transferred the bulk of it to another 0% card straight away to limit the damage.

What a total plonker but then again a few years ago it would have taken me 6 months to notice that not one and would have been 100's of pounds in interest paid. Wont make that mistake again.
  • Okay apart from the annoying CC mistake it's not been a bad day. Opened new CC and transferred the bulk of the balance to another 0%. So will be keeping a check on that happening. Went through TCB too so £25 will be in the OP fund. Will have CCs organised again by end of week and won't make this mistake again. To motivate myself to get rid of the balance quicker paid an additional £100 off today.

Today my parents gave me about 40 oranges and 40 apples, they work in hospitality and sometimes have loads of fruit left over. I now need to use them all. Will get a load of sugar for marmalade tomorrow and will stew some apples. It's going to rain tomorrow afternoon so that'll be a good time to do it.

Nearly a NSD today spent a couple of quid in tesco. Must stop doing this!

Don't be too hard on yourself re CC. These things happen and at least with your new mindset to money you are in a great position now.
