Our beautiful flowering cherry is coming down in the Summer
We're just about to enjoy it's final flowering season - so pretty. However, it has damaged the neighbour's drive and he is worried about it damaging a drain further up his drive, so has asked that we remove it - will cost £200
(and he's not even offered to pay anything towards it - and not all the tree guys are convinced it will ever damage the drain)

Did you expect him to offer anything?
Would you offer a neighbour money for removal of something on their property?
That isnt meant snidely, im genuinely curious.Sealed Pot Challenge:

It's a whopper, twice as tall as my house! It's right on the road too so will be tricky to get down.
It's going to have the root removed too which added to the cost. I want this done as I might want to move my gate in the future so it's not worth just getting rid of tree and leaving the stump which costs half the amount.
On the plus side I will be able to burn the wood next winter :-)
My drive is really difficult to get down do this will start the process of sorting the drive / garden. I decided to do this first as its shading my solar panels too so it's winwin for me.
I've got a hedge to get out too to open up the drive to make it easier to get down but that's a really big job too so that'll wait til next year! Hopefully this time next year I'll be able to drive in easily!
When you consider a house needing renovations don't forget the outside area! Not that I did that, honestly!0 -

Yes - if the reason for removal is because I'd asked for it to be removed for something that *might* happen to my property to save me money in the future if it did happen.I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -

I suggested to my neighbour last year when their fence fell down that it was replaced properly and offered to pay towards the cost of it. We were all happy and it was fair that I contributed. I benefitted from it.
The tree is down. Goodness they work for their £400. There were 4 of them off on on for half a day. A cherry picker, a chipper and a root grinder all going and all the logs cut and stacked for me to season til winter. I'm well chuffed with the job they have done.
Ordered sky sports for one month cost £25 but can watch all the last games of the footie season. It's automatically cancelled as well so I'm happy with that.
Today I defrosted my freezers, and then made about 15 jars of jam from fruit I defrosted. Will sell that all to tourists walking past my house.
Did 2 loads of washing free on solar and dried on the line. Had a free tank of hot water from solar.
Did nearly 20000 steps today, my feet really hurt, they ache. Boohoo!
Sigs updated for solar and funding circle0 -
Have had a really frugal weekend which inspired a blog post. Please let me know your Free or cheap day ideas by commenting on my blog. Blog views have gone past 1000 today :-) http://stretchyourpennies.blogspot.co.uk
Saturday consisted of taking son to football, walk in woods and then another walk to local broad with the lure of the pub half way to keep us going!
Today car boot sale bargains and a home cinema afternoon.
On a MFW note a few quid coming from £co soon and have regular overpayment next week too. I'm going to try to OP by another £100 or so by end of month but have cousins wedding next week so will see how much I spend.
Finally gave in and had a haircut (see first few pages on diary when I started to stretch it out) I was starting to look like a 1960's throwback! Not too bad £35 and a half decent cut to last a few months hopefully.
No jam sales yet. The tourists must be MSE's too this year!0 -
Sig updated for solar today. April is going well and hopefully should exceed expectations.
First jam sales of the year last night. £2.50 to the holiday fund. 3 more put out for sale.
Nothing else to report at present.0 -
Regular OP and repayment today so Sigs updated and we can colour in Another square on the house as we are under 136k!
Solar is going good guns and another very small return from funding circle.0
