Not sure what the tutoring is for but when pupils come to my house for music lessons, I encourage parents to sit in with a cup of tea. They all know my wife and son and some have met my parents. Should they not want to be in the music room, I let them go into the sitting room and put the radio on for them. Personally, I think it'd be very awkward to have pupils' parents sat in their cars.2018 totals:

To be honest Alex I live 2 minutes away by car, 5 minutes walking. It's purely a paranoid parent thing! I'm sure I will feel okay when I get there and be happy to leave him and go home. I know it's rediculous but I just know what I'm like!
Ps the tutoring is just a confidence booster in literacy and numeracy for a capable child with the ability to be distracted by anything and everything thus limited progress in the classroom even though his class only has 20 kids0 -
First session went well at the tutor. I got there early, waited about 5-10 minutes discussing what they would be doing and getting a feel for the situation. I was then happy to leave and come back an hour later. Miniocc had a fantastic time and said he couldnt wait to go back. They went over some simple year 2 numeracy work with a lot being done through fun games. I am very happy, £15 well spent every week. Mini has never been so happy to do extra work!
All the DD's went out to the tesco account today. 6 x £5 DD's so that covers all of the DD's required for my accounts. I don't reply on these to forfill the requirements but it just makes it easier.
No more money news today apart from a little returns from FC
World book day was a success mini was a great cat in a hat0 -
Glad the tutoring went well - sounds very promising if he had so much fun.0

Hello OCC,
Excellent that you have set up mini-occs pension, what a lovely gift for him. The tutoring is a great idea to boost mini-occs confidence.
Good luck with your op target for this month.

Thanks so much, I hope that I am doing the right thing for him. I just feel that he is being a little overlooked at school, allowed to coast.
Car is in the garage today, can't pick up til the morning. I'm expecting about £250 - £300 as its a full service and MOT. Hope to leave the money in the annual bills account and pay from monthly bills account.
Today was a NSD so will tomorrow nearly. There will be the exception of footie subs and perhaps a quick coffee.
Sold 3 jars of jam today £5 in the camper van fund. Thats quite a few sold in the last couple of week.
made a OP today of £135 so month to date £1900 -
All the money stuff sounds good and hope the car flies through it's MOT.
Glad to hear the tutoring went well and your son enjoyed it. From what you've said on here, it seems your son doesn't enjoy the academic side of school much so hopefully this will be a step in the right direction.
Pleased to hear your world book day went well and your son helped with making his costume. My son went as a soldier Ray and took the book Flo of the Somme. Can't say the day was particularly good at my son's school, most children went as characters from films rather than books. Hardly any imagination put into costumes, most were clearly bought.

Yes you're right the academic side of school is harder for him, doesn't suit his learning style and being in a bright year group feels not as clever as the rest. He is actually I'd say about average or a little better than average for his age but is so distracted by literally everything and has a kenetic learning style that doesn't suit a classroom environment. On top of that you've got parents who think their child is a boy/girl genius who seem to demand the time of the teacher permanently. There are 2 or 3 of them in his class. Anyhow the tutoring should reinforce the classroom work and bring some enjoyment too
Mini went as the cat in the hat as he loves dr Seuss. The costume was very handmade! There were a few frozen characters at school which as far as I'm concerned isn't a book although most were from books if I'm totally honest. About half looked brought which is understandable as the school gave 6 days notice that is if you noticed it in the small print of the newsletter the day we got them. It was a bit of a rush to make 1 let alone people with 3 kids at the school!
Will be picking car up tomorrow first thing so will know the damage then!0 -
A classroom environment is difficult for quite a lot of children, in my opinion. My son doesn't get on particularly well and is disruptive. He finds having to share the teacher's attention with 10 other children very hard and becomes very bored at school. Unfortunately, the school will not put my son on their "Gifted and Talented" register (he is working above his age group expectation by quite a margin in some subjects) apparently due to not seeing evidence at school despite the fact I've taken in work from home and he's often played violin and piano at school.
Glad to hear your world book day was more successful and your son's costume was homemade. I suppose I am being a little unfair as many dressed as characters from books that were later adapted for film at my son's school. We knew world book day was coming and my wife did a wonderful job of son's costume but unfortunately a girl in year 5 won the prize for a bought costume. Appears if you spend £50+ on a costume you'll get a prize and in my opinion completely unfair. Can completely understand why someone with more than one child may buy as they can take a long time to make.2018 totals:

In fairness Alex, the schools cant do right for doing wrong. I am of the opinion that they can only do what they can and I intend to fill the gaps myself.
Picked up car just under £220 which was as good as could be expected. Needs to have 2 rear tires very soon so I will be factoring that in for next month. I will attempt to try not dip into the annual bills for this and pay from my usual monthly bills account.
mini was gutted as got a text on the way back from picking up the car to say football was cancelled due to weather so only £5 on dance today. a football tournament tomorrow morning then the boys are taking me out tomorrow night.
we went to lunch at sainsbury as we didnt have a busy day so about £20 spent in total but that was from BF's personal spends. I have about £60 in personal spends to last until 18th if possible if I plan to keep the whole £250 saved. I will try my best to make it last.
Made a big pan of borscht today as got beetroot in the aldi bargain veg. I will freeze in the morning into portions. Also finished my coursework and sent in and also applied to a voluntary job. Made a home made pie today for tea, yum yum and a portion to freeze too
Savings long and short term doing well this month so far and OP's looking okay. Having another look at the commercial building monday and considering our options.0
