i read your post Conor, with a sad smile......lucky you for getting a whopping £100 in bank charges in a year...if you read these forums ..people (me included) have been charged more than that in one day .Im in the alliance and leicester...i was with the post office...But the alliance and leicester bought the post offices banking section...ithen had to post my pay cheques to bootle....heres where the problems start...my cheques would regularly be processed by the bank late(i always posted them on a friday morning at latest) usually a wednesday.....then not clearing till the following monday....and always when i had 7 dd going out on the 20th of the month...i was constantly hit with charges and at that time we were paying for child minding fees for 2children totalling £900 amonth...a quater of our wages....this is the only time we went overdrawn, and 99.9 % of the fault was the bankl...you try getting your finances in order after being charged £200 in charges in 1 week...it takes 2 months to get yourself back to where you were...then your constantly hit with more charges...cos the bank has put you on a downward chages spiral....i hope the banks ALL start charging for their services...we may have a better level playing field to work with..and finally stop these effin greedy b--t-r-ds from ripping US ALL OFF

I have read on here that somebody has had their fee refunded by MCOL, how can we check for certain that this is what is happening, or was that one case a fluke??

  • Having just worked out my charges, is there any point in handing in a letter to my bank tomorrow?
  • So thats it then? Party's over for those trying to reclaim? I was just sorting out the check for the initial statements to begin my claim, I guess it's not worth it now?

I watched the Ch4 news and I agree, Martin did a great job given difficult circumstances.

I for one am totally devastated by this news. I have several claims with the Financial Ombudsman after trying unsuccessfully for months to make progress by myself. For me, this process has being going on for several months already and I have a very bad feeling about the likely court judgment and a real dread that we might end up getting nothing back now ever. From the Financial Ombudsman website it seems every claim is suspended totally. I will also keep my eyes peeled for updates but I also wondered is everything suspended regarding credit card claims too?

I have a directions hearing set for August 14th, i dont think i've got a chance of the judge hearing my case, i imagine he will use this as a reason to stay the case. If thats so then there is nothing i can do , just have to sit back and watch the interest pile up!

    Well done Martin :T

How does this affect credit card claims if at all? Are these claims to be 'frozen' aswell like bank account claims?

And do the 40 day SAR requests still stand or are they on hold too?

I think Credit cards will be unaffected as they have already had an OFT ruling of £12 deemed as reasonable.

    Am i right Martin?

BTW, you were ace on TV tonight. sent shivers up my spine! :money:
