I've just sold 2 items totalling £10! :-)
A question: are people counting the sale totals or deducting the ebay and paypal fees etc first?0 -
I'll be deducting all costs (ebay/Paypal fees and postage) and just declaring the money I have available for spending as a result of having sold the item.Cheryl0

That's similar to what I do, BohemianCoast. I just add actual profit to my totals. Same with Amazon who deduct seller's fees from the amount they send but they add the postage allowance. Sometimes books cost more to post than the £2.80 allowance but often less:j so I never add anything to my totals until it's actually in my bank account and I've deducted what it has actually cost to post the book. With car boot sales I deduct my pitch fee and approx. petrol costs from my total profits. Not sure what others do but it works for me:).0 -
Hello!
I'd already set myself a target for 2015 of £1500 net sales (so after any associated fees, postage etc) when apple muncher told me about this thread - so I thought I'd pop on over!I had ebay sales in Dec of a couple of hundred, but am only counting ones from yesterday, as I set myself this target about a week ago. I mainly sell things on ebay and at nearly new sales. Very occasionally I make a fbk sale and I also used to sell a few things at WI - but have given up going.
Whilst there's a lot of stuff to sell in this house (there's 6 of us, inc 4 kids ranging from 5 -17), I don't keep the money from the children's toys and books they(I) sell - they get it - most of the time it was a present of some sort (or they may even have bought it with their own money), so it's only fair they get the money. I do keep the money from their clothes which sell (not many - I have 3 boys and they are HARD on their clothes!!!) and any 'equipment' type stuff (pushchair, cot etc - when we had them - all long gone) We've sold all our old phones (bar my 3 1/2year old iphone4 which recently died) so there's not much there. DH and I tend to wear our clothes out so that they're not fit for selling in the main.
£1500 will be a challenge, for sure - but I aim to try my best!!! It will also help in the ongoing battle of decluttering in this house!!I'm only including sales, not cashback.
I look forward to seeing everyone's progress

Please can I join. There's no way I have £1000 worth of stuff to sell but I know I have clutter around that I can turn in to cash!
I need to declutter and need the cash but have struggled to motivate myself to get the stuff sold!
I would like to set myself a goal of making around £15 a month. So if possible I would like to set my target as £200. The money will go towards paying debts/our holiday.

Hi,
I'd like to join this as well please.
Just rejoining MSE after not using the site for a few years.
We'd like to move house next year and am aiming for £1500 to aid with legal fees.
Already sold a couple of items on eBay but loads left to list.
Can anyone advise me if music magpie is any good? Went to download their app last night and the reviews were very bad.
Good luck to everyone & best wishes for 2015.

Gosh people are doing so well. I'm useless at this I always end up losing out on ebay by letting good stuff go for nest to nothing. Is auction or buy now better. And on Amazon I underestimate the postage. Will I quicker at writing the blurb and taking the photo as i go along? I am in awe of you people.Debt Free by 2016
