Harder things to shift are books and dvds. VHS videos are impossible; sling any you've got or give them to schools/nursing homes etc that still have VHS players.

Sorry, BohemianCoast, I have to disagree with you here. I sell on Amazon and make a nice little second income from selling books,DVDs and niche VHS tapes. Amazon still has a whole section devoted to VHS in the product catagories:j.

The secret with VHS is to sell more niche titles and, in the case of films, titles that were never issued later as DVDs. Children's videos such as the older Disney issues and TV progs such as Rosie and Jim have done really well for me. I even look out for them at carboot sales, jumble sales and charity shops(although most CSs won't even accept them nowadays). Have snapped up whole boxes of VHS tapes for next to nothing that sellers just wanted rid of. Have been given hundreds on Freecycle that owners just wanted gone. They didn't care that I planned to try to sell them, they couldn't be bothered to do it themselves.Admittedly there was a lot of rubbish but I made loads of profit from the ones I did sell and gave new owners/collectors a lot of pleasure:j.

With anything on Amazon it's a case of list and wait patiently for a sale. Could be within minutes of listing(as has happened to me a few times) or months. Depends how keen you are for the money and the space. Condition is everything with VHS tapes. I always play them right through to check for degradation (have had some cheap entertainment along the way:rotfl:) and if necessary replace any cracked/badly scratched cases. Well worth the effort IMO.

Not sure of the eBay/Facebook situation with VHS tapes, I stick to Amazon myself. Good Luck:beer:

Sold my old phone for £150 to SIL. Sold the case for £50 to her as well, but gave that to DH as he did buy it as a gift and has promised to buy me a new one when that particular brand brings one out I like for the new phone. Currently happy with the one I bought on e*Bay for 99p though!

  • Oh good for you carbootcrazy! It's good to know that there are people out there still searching for VHS etc.

Anyway, a Saturday full of selling action, all small amounts but it adds up. A CD and a printer ink cartridge (from when my printer died) on fleabay, and lip balm, crayons, an in/out tray and a travel mug on FB. Total £30 for the pile.
Make £2023 in 2023: (all decluttering), current total £2860 me, £330 for friends & family, £468 charity donations.

It is over a MONTH since I last sold anything. For the last 5 weeks I have been having a seriously serious declutter of the house.Lots being chucked out, lots being donated to charity, and lots being set aside to list for selling as soon as I learn how to upload photos icon_redface.gif.

Today I made money by taking bags of outgrown clothes and soft toys to Cash4Clothes.I was quite pleased with that, considering they were all either supermarket brand clothes,or bought cheaply by grandparents when they holiday overseas. For 44kg (:eek:) of clothes, and soft toys which are almost impossible to sell,I earnt £22,which will be evenly divided between the 4 children for their money tins

So my tally this year is £37.Gonna be a slow old march, this one..............:rotfl:
