I'm really pleased with myself - I have just completed and submitted my tax return!
... The really good news is that it's calculated that THEY owe ME £892! :j
....Anyone know how long they take to let you know if they're happy with your figures, and how long before they send the refund? It asked for my bank details to pay straight in there, but somehow I'm not expecting to see it there in the next few days!
Congrats on doing your tax return! And good news that you are due a refund :T
I've never had a refund from them, but if I were you I shouldn't expect anything before 31 January at the absolute earliest.
I've been self-employed for eight years, and (touch wood) HMRC have never queried my figures so far, although I keep expecting them to. My understanding is that they have until the end of next January (ie Jan 2009) to query the return you have just filed, but after that if they investigate a future return and find problems, they can go back something like seven years, so you have to keep your paperwork for a while longer. (They have never actually written to me or anything to say that the figures are OK, once the return is submitted and accepted it is a case of no news is good news!)
You could always ask on the Cutting Tax board, someone there should be able to help.
Good luck with everything for 2008!0 -
THANK YOU!!! That's exactly the info I was looking for but was too lazy to go out and find!!!
I took great pleasure in sticking the whole lot in a very large box last night, sealing it up as though it was radioactive, and writing '06/07 TAX RETURN - NEVER TO BE RE-OPENED!' on the top! It can join the rest of the junk in our storage unit, and - hopefully - I'll never have to look at any of it again.
I'm worried they might query the figures because I made a loss and they owe me money but I'll cross that bridge if I come to it.
Happy New Year to all! We're just up and starting the marathon house clean before DH has to leave for work at 1 and the viewers come round at 3. Wish us luck!0 -
Good Luck! Good Luck! Good Luck! Wouldn't that just be the best start to the year?0

Ive got both my fingers (and toes and legs!) crossed that the viewer makes an offer for you - that would be such a great start to the Year
P.S - Thanks for the Birthday wishes too! Not doing anything exciting though, its a crap day here and we're all knackered as DD decided to wake up, just as the rest of us were heading to bed at 1am
Let us know how it goes

Hoping that by now the house is approaching perfect and you can sit down with a much deserved cuppa before your viewer arrives.
Good luck, I really really hope it works out for you all today xxxSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Hi pandapaws, has the viewer been and gone yet?2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Well, the good news is that I've got the tidy house I wanted.
The bad news is that it was a no-show.
How completely inconsiderate can some people be???! New Year's Day: do they think people have nothing better to do? (Actually I don't, but that's not the point!). I wouldn't mind so much except that we worked our backsides off cleaning up, which made DH late for work, and I feel as though my pelvis is likely to snap in half. I also severely peed off my mother when she rang to wish me a happy new year at lunchtime as I was too busy to talk to her properly, and the in-laws have had DS since 11am so they'll be getting fed up as well. Apparently the appt was (sketchy details from DH as always!) 3.30pm - it's now 5, so doubt they'll turn up this late.
Thanks anyway for all the good luck wishes! Open viewing weekend coming up Sat & Sun following 3 page newspaper spread all about our house, so hopefully that'll be a bit more successful. Just need to try and keep the house clean until then so we don't have to do it all again!0 -
Oh PP, I am so so sorry that this has happened. I think it is really inconsiderate for people do to this - and I feel very   on your behalf (not that it makes any helpful difference to you).
Hopefully they will re-arrange, apologising like crazy, and offer that extra £80k.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0
