NOT BUYING IT! 2015 - A consumer holiday

I live not far from the big outdoor shop on the top road...... what a small world it is
I went to Jackie's Diner just across the road and was very impressed with their food and service. Though you might want something a bit 'more'. If you're not adverse to the chain Hungry Horse, at The Star further back toward Rainham I think you can get a discount voucher online for there which may save some pennies on lunch
I'm not far from Medway hospital.0 -
Another crew member joining before we sail.
I have always been careful with money, but hope to be more so.
I need to replace my food processor and iron sometime but only when they finally give up.
Car will probably need some work for the MOT, but apart from that I don't think I need any big purchases, and have nearly saved enough for my holiday."When one door closes another door opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us" Alexander Graham Bell0 -

Thank you
Often find if I need something, if I wait long enough it usually turns up. Broke bread bin but thought new ones were too expensive, DD moving soon and has a spare one."When one door closes another door opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us" Alexander Graham Bell0 -
I rarely use deodorant or anti p, even though Im fitness instructor, I just shower in between classes, never been a problem. I also rarely wear make up, the older Ive got the less make up I wear, I have eczema so a lot of foundations etc irritate me, Ive actually not worn foundation since I was 17 and Im 45
If i go out and I want to put make up on, its a bit of lipstick, some eyeliner, a bit of perfume and some nail varnish and thats it, day to day I wear no make up
I tried coconut oil on my hair but it didnt agree with it and was too greasy, I have long hair almost to my bum, its a great moisturiser though. Apart from that I have to confess I have practically nil skincare routine. I have sensitive skin so Im wary so apart from the odd superdrug face pack that doesnt upset my skin, thats me.
Im 45, almost 46 but I look a bit younger and apart from the allergies my skin is ok, Ive also never worked in jobs where I had to scrub up, I was an addiction worker for almost 20 years and now Im a PT so I dont need to go out every day with make up
I do like my highlights as it gives me a lift but I was talking with my mum earlier about using one of the john frieda dyes to go darker and I might yet do that.
Im very low maintenance approaching scruffbag so its great to be in a job where I can wear casual clothes every day.0 -
It's all a work in progress at the moment as we came back at the end of November after three months and we are now trying to sell the house and clear out all our stuff!!!fiftyeighter wrote: »Mint1955. How wonderful for you both. At least over the years you must have tried and tested every aspect of living in another country and know how it all goes. You are so right the most important things are each other and health and happiness. No amount of money can buy these things.
I hope you'll continue to participate on here when you do go and let us no how things are going for you both. I for one will feel the odd bit of envy. LolLiving the dream and retired in Cyprus :j

With regards to going grey - does anyone think it is harder when you have natural dark hair? When my roots show its like streaks of metallic silver that show up against the dark. I get self conscious, dye it again and then wish that I didn't as it dries the hair out so much. I crimped it for years and think also that did a lot of damage. 2015 will be the year I will try to embrace the silver.
Wind back to 1985 and I had a foot high purple mohican which took a can of hairspray a week to defy gravity and a tube of Immac hair remover to keep down the side growth! It was very high maintenance.
I would ditch all my makeup too but I have rosacea and need a certain layer to cover this up. I have not got the confidence to go out of the door barefaced.0 -

Ah so you're an ex punk like myself
I'm naturally, well when younger, dark haired. It's the grey dark hair line block that's so annoying. I get it. Grey / white is lovely too.
I spent 2014 not putting permanent dye in my hair - a semi / wash out colour at the most every 3 months. This autumn I left it alone and went to the hairdressers and asked for the grey to be blended into the colour.
Instead of a block horizontal colour change line, I now have loads of vertical colours from ash browns, to blonds to silver. It looks amazing and a bit "alternative" but that's my kinda thing
The hairdresser reckoned I'd need to do this twice more over a year and I'd be off on the au' natural thereafter.
I'm glad I invested in it. And will do so again even if it means finding the extra money via ebay sales of some of my vintage clothes! Because I look in the mirror and I'm happy with the transforming ageing woman I am :T0 -
Thanks Katkin, I may need to look at doing something like this as I just keep feeling that I am going back to square one every time I dye it all over in the one permanent shade (which fades all too quick) and a month later the silver is back.0

I have long dark hair with long white/silver bits. I don't mind it changing colour apart from having a four year old and people keep asking me about my grandson . I keep thinking I want it cut really short but love long white hair. My gran went from coal black (natural) to snowy white. I would love the colour she had.1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%
