We have a small pebble fountain feature in our garden . I don,t leave the water running permanently to save electricity but switch the pump on regularly to keep the water ventilated. Whenever I do this at this time of year I'm confronted by a host of baby froglets the size of a thumbnail who come jumping out from under the surrounding pebbles. I then have to stand on guard until they've tucked themselves away again because the magpies often come investigating looking for a tasty snack!0

Ahoy there!!!
Well am back off my hols/house and dog sitting stint!! Am trying to NBI by growing my own tomatoes in pots - but while I have been away they grew too big for their pots so today I have re potted them and will feed them tomorrow. not sure if anything will come of it but I had the fertilizer and pots around anyway - so who knows??? hope springs eternal! :-)
Jackie O yep it is so exciting going somewhere that you really enjoy!! I'll bet the kids are now counting sleeps!!! (Oh come on - I'll bet you are too :-)
Also turned out more carp today and found more shower gel (which I was out of but I ve found bubble bath works as well - used carefully!) and more handcream (Champneys no less!! It was a gift from a grateful student years ago!) So I wont need to but any for a while!
Am also NBI re food - I have audited my freezer upon my return and spent £7.50 on fresh bits at L!dil today but I have resolved not to buy cakes or biscuits or bread as I have tons of ingredients here to make them!! None of them are v good for me so, if I have to make them, it will mean that I will be less inclined to eat them!!! :-) I have unopened packs of biccys for visitors which are not a problem for me to leave alone! :-)
Sailing frugally forward! :-)Aim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j
NSDs 2015:185/330 (allowing for hols etc)

Good evening all, I shall have to walk the plank I think. I went to the shops and bought some lovely bed linen for eldest DDs anniversary and also some table linen for youngest DDs one.
Took the boys to the park and we had a picnic ,all home made so no spending there .
Then tonight my youngest DGD Holly just home from her holiday in Greece came round and said come to Bluewater with me Nanny I want to get a Mac Air book laptop. She can still get her student discount for one more month, so got it all at almost £120 off.
I kept looking at them and they are absolutely gorgeous and was so tempted.Managed to walk out of the Apple shop and all the time she is saying to me Why don't you get one ,your PC is almost antique (which is true)
I'm still running Word and Outlook Express 2003 and Windows XP.
We went off to have some dinner and think about it.
Still couldn't make my mind up yea or nay so in the end tossed a coin and Yup I splashed out a large amount of moolah:):) £879.00.
I only intended to go along for the ride and maybe get some soap for my holiday and some talc.Coming home after whacking all this loot to Apple she said I tell you what if we go into Tesco's you should get some soap in there a bit cheaper than stopping at Sainsbobs:):):)
After spending the best part of £800 on a new lap-top saving 10p on a bar of soap wasn't my first thought I must admitbut she meant well bless her, and I also did get £120.00 discount as we got her student discount knocked off my lap top as well so. I guess it was saving some cash at least.
She is coming on Sunday to set it all up for me,
Memo to myself : Next time Holly rings up and says do you want to come to Bluewater ?, must replace the receiver firmly:):)
Seriously I am pleased with it ,and this computer I am on at the moment is getting well past its time on this earth so it will go to the clapped out computer home in the skyand hopefully on Sunday I will have a whizzy wonderful one that actually doesn't have me shouting at it so often
Off to bed now to contemplate my profligacy:D
Night all

Aww JackieO,
Well done you on treating yourself! You are so good at scrimping and saving and giving all your savings away to the rest of the family! I am sure you will really enjoy your new computer and even wonder why you didn't do it sooner!.It will be great having it all working properly at a good speed... Do not feel bad, you are using it every day so it is an important purchase...a big pleasure for yourself and will be well worth it. And it won't be long until you are all on holiday which you have already saved up for, so you are all organised! I have said before that you sound like you are a lovely person with a lovely loving family. Thank you,You are an inspiration to lots of us on this forum -just keep being you and keep posting!...on your lovely new computer.0 -
MyHappinessProject Thank you honey ,how kind of you.You have just repeated almost to the letter what DGD Holly said last night over dinner at Carluccios in Bluewater. (her treat by the way
) What swung it was she sat there beaming and saying "Go on you know you want to Nan,I can hear Granddad whispering in my ear. Buy it, Buy it ,you never ever treat yourself to anything really nice ,If I were here I'd buy it for you"
She's a little scallywag bless her .I think she was more excited about me getting it than she was about buying her own one.
She is a real sweetie and starts her new teaching career next month. She has qualified as a teacher, and dinner was celebratory as she got a distinction of 'outstanding' in her teacher training status. Hence the reason she was treating herself to a new lap-top. Her Mum (my eldest DD) texted me when I got home to say 'About time Mum, you are now officially in the 21st century at last'
My old computer was bought back in 1998 !!! so its done me good service over the years with a few hiccups and repairs over the years. Roll on Sunday when Holly comes round to sort my new all singing-dancing one out:):)
It will be nice to have something just for me for a change:):) The boys will be so chuffed when I tell them this morning.
Tomorrow I am off to see the Frank Sinatra show at the Palladium with Holly's brother Danny , my eldest DGS.
We booked tickets back in April and Danny is taking me out for dinner as well in London ,so I am getting spoiled by them both this week.He works in the city now and I only get to see him around once a month as he works such long hours.
So I shall have him for most of tomorrow which will be lovely:):)
I am a very lucky lady to have such nice grandchildren Time for a cuppa I think
Have a good day everyone I will be back on to the good ship NBI now:):)
Cheers JackieO xxx0 -
Well done Jackie a well deserved purchase.Have a lovely time in London.Vx:0

So pleased for you Jackie, and what lovely youngsters there are in your family! Have a great time at the show.
NBI continues here in small ways. For example, one of my two black bras was digging in, one of the hooks had bent out of shape. Out with the pliers and it's back in service for another wee while.
On a completely different tack, I love colouring in but simply can't bring myself to pay for an adult colouring in book. Finally the old brain cells cranked into action and I had a look online. I've printed off some lovely copyright free sheets to colour in from free websites.
Another low spend weekend coming up - £1.85 for a cuppa at the coffee club, and a peek in the fridge has convinced me that I have enough food to see me through the weekend. I have much to be thankful for!0 -
Good Morning chums well I am up with the lark this morning. beautiful day forecast and DGS Danny is picking me up around 10.30 this morning We are driving to my DDs in-laws, and leaving the car there and after a cuppa going on into London on the trains (they live about half way )
Afternoon show at the Palladium with DGS to see the Sinatra show then dinner .A great day out with my eldest DGS Danny:):)
Tomorrow DGD Holly is coming in the morning to help me set up my new lap-top and I shall be so pleased to have something that doesn't keep freezing/stopping/has errors on the page etc and also doesn't take ages to load up.
A totally different sytem to get used to (Mac instead of Windows XP:))so I will be playing all day tomorrow:):)
Next Saturday we are off on holiday to the IoW for two weeks, and I will be able to take my new lap-top with me so I will be able to keep up with all the news on here for a change, instead of being offline for a fortnight:):)
Saves wodges of emails to plow through when I come home .
Running down my fridge at the moment No cooking today (out with DGS to dinner in London) and tomorrow I go to DDs for dinner.I only have to cook on Monday Wednesday and Thursday this week as Tuesdays I go to Quiz night and Friday we always have a fish and chips treat on the night before our holiday starts ( traditional treat for us all and saves Dd having to cook when she gets in from work.So my fridge is looking a bit bare already but I have enough stuff in the freezer for this weeks few dinners
once home its back to strict budgets again as September means looking forward to Christmas:):)
Have a great day everyone what ever you are doing
Cheers

Jackie O - look on your new computer as an investment in your hobby and friendships -essential that you maintain your mental health and well being!!! LOL
Seriously though - having my friends of on here really helps me in the difficult times or when I loose motivation to stay on the straight and narrow! So I know I will get help when I say that I ve fallen off the dieting ship with an extra large splash as today I made brownies for friends coming round today and had an Indian take away and then out for a pint with another two friends this eve. however, I have taken a leaf out of Jackie O's book and these were paid for from Happy Cash stash! Ergo not off the NBI ship - in fact the brownies were made on the NBI principle - I did not have quite enough brown sugar - so I used half white! Did not have brazil nuts but I did have almonds! SO in both cases I did not rush out to buy but used what I had got! V NBI :-)

Lynplatinum, look on the brownies as what they are, a not every day treat to celerbrate friendship, rather than diet 'fail', after all we all need something to look forward to.£71.93/ £180.000
