lynP how could you not have scones and clotted cream, it would be so rude ,and the economy down there is in need of your cash.:):):) enjoy them, your are on holiday, and all that walking with the mutt, you need scones and clotted cream AND jam to keep your engine running . Life is for enjoying, and if a simple thing like a scone and cream floats your boat, then go for it girl.:):):) in a few months time when its bucketing down, and the skies are grey, remember the pleasure you had in your treat on holiday. The world will still be turning, and eating them won't stick 2 stone on you.
You have absolution my child:):):) if I was there they would have vanished like butter on a hot skillet no question about it
:):)
Three pound to be spent today from my Happy Cash Stash (entertainment fund) for the crinkly cinema.I read the book last year and will see the film this morning 'Child 44' very good book about Russia during the cold war period.I am not a rom-com or Bond person either I like filmd with a good story and 'frothy' films just don't do it for me.
Quiz night tonight so no cooking for me as the meal comes with the quizbrilliant value at £2.00.NSD all this week hopefully, lots of stuff in the fridge and freezer. My friend gave me the Lidl voucher from the DM and I am saving it until the end of the week and will stock up on tinned/dried stuff for DGS Ben's box that he will take back to Uni
Should get a good amount with a fiver off a forty pound shop:):)
Have a great day chums what ever you are doing

I'm not a scone/cream/jam fan but had it been fresh cheese scone with real butter then I would have bought them all!
It's been raining since Sunday afternoon and not stopped....felt odd when making soup on Sunday, after all it is july and supposedly our summer...so glad I did now as it looks wintery outside and it's doing me the world of good 0 -
Good afternoon ,well mixed feelings about today I enjoyed the film no end but came out to find I had been ticketed.I have a disabled badge and thought that where I parked was OK as there was a picture of a wheelchair on the bay,but apparently that bay has been changed to a coaches only bay !!! never noticed the sign as I had previously paked there before. so my trip to the cinema has cost me £63.00 this morning.I am not a happy bunny to say the least.
But the film was good at least .But It will stop me from being so careless again Grrr. Definitely no more spending this month or into next0 -

Definitely challenge that JO - can you take a picture of the wheelchair sign? There is also lots of advice on these forums re. challenging parking tickets. Hopefully you won't have to pay, but it's still a faff0 -

Pop over to the motoring board and there is a walk through on how to challenge parking fines on private land. Its easy and you will win. Dont pay or panic until you have read through there first0 -
Thanks for your wise words of advice friends!! You are correct - I am on holiday!! But today I was out for lunch and tea thanks to my friends Mum (we had pasties together for lunch) and my friends circle of friends who meet once a week to share their evening meal (they kindly invited me!). however, am back on the bandwaggon tomorrow!
Jackie O - definitely challenge that parking fine! If the pic of the wheelchair was still there then it is not obvious that you should not park there!! Evening if they refuse the first time - also take photos and tell em you are going to let the local paper know so that others dont get taken in - I wonder how much they have made out of that space?? Grrrrr! We had some clampers in Bletchley who were clamping when the signs were not obvious - the local paper published one person's story and loads of folk had also been 'done' by these clampers in various ways. Th paper took it up as a cause and it all ended going to court and the clampers got a huge fine and everyone got their money back! So go for it - that is unjust!
Glad you enjoyed the film - go again but park elsewhere!!
Take care y'all!

Hi chums I looked through the bits on the forum, but it looks as though I don't have a great case as there was a sign up but I just didn't notice it.The wheelchair on the ground is still there but looks as though its been painted so the yellow bits aren't as bright I shall definitely take more care in future I have sent of an email to the Odeon to tell them that although I liked the film and the cinema was great the signage and parking for customers isn't.One learns by one's mistakes and I have learned by mine thats for sure.Cheque has gone into the post as I certainly wasn't going to pay online or by the phone as they wanted another £1.50 for the priviledge on top of the £60.00 !!! I shall just have to put it down to my stupidity in not noticing the signs.
Still on the bright side the Gods looked down on us at Quiz night and we came firstand won two bottles of wine to go into the 'stash'.
There are 6 of us on a regular basis, and first prize is two bottles and second prize is one.So what we do is save them up until we have enough for us to all have a bottle each.I was very pleased with the result last night and we all were really buzzing about it.The quiz is such good value at £2.00 each and you get a small meal thrown in as well. Last night we had a minced beef pasta which was delicious ,our veggie friend had a cheesey jacket spud .Everyone has a brilliant night with lots of laughter which cheered me up no end
Not too sure what I'm doing today as DD has the day off ,so we may take the boys for a drive somewhere(being careful where we park of course)
Have a good day chums, what ever you are doing

*Rowing my little rafter towards the good ship* May I please come aboard, I have been out in the wild seas for a long time and I used to have my own little ship, but I have sank it by way of over consuming, in the last year or so.
I could really use some wise company to sail me back on to the old, wiser waters of low(ish) consumption!
I probably haven't had a NBD/NSD for months now and really need to rein in my spending.
Now, compared to the General Public, I still probably come across as Little Miss Frugal, as lifelong habits die hard, but compared to my own standards I have really well and truly fallen off the wagon, or I should say, overboard!
At the moment I have my elderly mum (83) over from Italy for the summer, so cannot be too strict, hence I am not in the right time for joining a NS or GC. For example my mum will pass a food shop and take a fancy to something, I shall get it for her, I am not about to deprive Her of treats at her age. She always insists in giving the money back but I just can't charge my mum for food and drink! I know she will give me Euros for when I travel abroad so it will all even out. But it is not the right time for proper challenges, other than staying aware of my need to lower my spending for the moment, and joining this happy ship will help immensely, I am sure.
However it is a more generalised loosening of control of the purse strings which worries me, so please will you let me aboard? Thank you! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Hi Caterina :hello: lovely to "see" you! Hope your mum is enjoying her visit0
