Big Jenny, take care of yourself after your op.Vx:0

Last GA I had, I nearly caused a major accident on a very busy road.
Was about two weeks after and I had been feeling fine. Took a trip to the city for shopping, and fell asleep behind the wheel
Luckily it was for just a second and as soon as I hit the cats eyes I woke and managed to get the car straight
Even a month or so after I found I was getting very confused and sleepy when out in the car, so stuck to only essential local travel
I have a GA coming up this year and I've already booked the week off work to hopefully recover0 -

In 1991 when I had a knee op I was told that it could take up to 6weeks to get the GA out of my system and to be careful as I got more active as breathing more deeply would draw the GA out of the bottom of my lungs.
Whilst things have moved on with both GAs and keyhole surgery I have always found this to be sound advice, and have heeded it on the couple of occasions I've had GAs since.
Take care everyone:):0 -
My surgeon also says 6 weeks before driving again and after the last two ops. last year I did exactly that ,although it drove me nuts at the time.
I am awaiting my last op. for my reconstruction, and hope to be going in sometime this month, and again it will be 6 weeks off of driving, but well worth it as I will once more have a pair of matching bosoms:):)

Make sure you take it easy vulpix - there's no finite schedule for recovery.
My frugality seems to be escaping me at the moment. I went to the local craft shop the other day, with the idea of getting an acrylic stamp block and some more distress ink pads and I walked away with a bead set and some decorative pins as well! I have no idea why...0 -
Feelin loads better,thanks all.
Jackie O good luck with the new boob,my friend had one last year and loves it,any excuse to show anyone who will look at it!It is amazing though.:0 -
Hi all
Emslovesmicky - you came away with more because of marketing - one of my degrees is in Business Studies; I worked on advertising campaigns; I know how things are placed/coloured and presented to make you wanna buy them - and yet still I get caught out by it all sometimes!!! Dont beat yourself up over it - just climb back aboard the NBI ship and really use what you have bought then it wont be a waste!! :-)
Re all who have had or are about to have ops - wish you all speedy and through recoveries. I just feel so lucky to be in a country with 'free' health care (I know we all pay tax and NI for it but it would cost a lot more in other countries) _ as I keep on saying - after breaking my leg last year, being totally dependent on others and housebound I less every day that I can get up and walk!!
Today a friend and I walked around a beautiful lake - it felt like a miracle! Awesome!! It cost me nothing other than a little petrol (under £1 worth) very NBI!! We also found a nearby, legitimate car park that didnt charge!!! (Our usual car park for this walk started charging last year! The rotters!!)
Got offered to go out for a meal tonight but I declined - thereby saving money - also i was really looking forward to the meal i had planned - pasta carbonara (using Ald! super six mushrooms and their reduced price bacon bought last Tuesday!! YUM!)
LAST TUESDAY!!!!!! Eeek! Where does time fly to? All ingredients quite OK tho - including some marcapone that went otta date end April (well, am OK so far - if im not on here tomorrow then you will all know I was wrong!)
Sail on in frugality folks!Aim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j
NSDs 2015:185/330 (allowing for hols etc)
LBM: started Jan 2012 - still learning!
Life gives us only lessons and gifts - learn the lesson and it becomes a gift.' from the Bohdavista :j0 -
Marketting is a very effective way of parting us with our money isn't it LynPlatinum! Thankfully I've got a few ideas of what to do with the extra things that I bought, so it won't be a total waste.
I have got to stop buying craft stuff though, aside from the absolute essentials (ie glue/tape etc) I'm also going to look in charity shops for things to alter, rather than buying MDF stuff as it's more expensive. The problem is you look at what other people do, want to do it yourself and find you don't have the items!0 -

Isn't it great that we can use our eyes and noses to judge that food is still safe to eat?!
Good luck to those having ops / recovering from ops. I read recently that general anaesthetics work by temporarily slightly dissolving the substance of the brain, hence the woollyheadedness and recovery time needed - and the depression. No wonder we feel under par mentally and emotionally afterwards!
Maybe also there's a subconscious response, that we have consented to a legal assault on our bodies - done skillfully and for the best of reasons, but enough to cause all the body/mind's systems to get stressed.
Agreed about being our own best friends, and being gentle with ourselves. It's a great example to set to those around us!0 -
Hi guys
On the subject of GA, I've only had it once when had an op on my knee some 20 odd years ago....when I woke up I thought I'd been crying, the nurse told me I hadn't but too this day I swear I had.
Didn't help that before the op, while I was lying on the table outside the theatre, they drew a big black arrow on my leg pointing at the knee..only problem was they drew it on the wrong leg  I nearly shot out the bed at that point :rotfl:
Turned out that half way through my medical records someone had wrote the wrong one down and no-one had realised!
Anyway, I had a good weekend on NBI front, only spent £13.63 at Aldi, managed to turn 2 Turkey steaks I had in freezer into meatloaf which will make at least 4 meals (minced the meat in processor) also made 10 corned beef pasties with the out of date pastry :rotfl:
I'm expecting to spend a bit more this weekend as Lidl has the half price beef mince on sale so I'm going to buy 6 packs for the freezer, it's rare for us to get this offer in our local store, must be at least 7-8 months since last time.
I'm also on off work for a week next week so I'm on the lookout for some free entertainment :T0
