Hi shipmates, well this is new to me. I'm sitting in the conservatory with a cuppa on Friday afternoon. I would normally be running around shopping/cleaning/washing/doing accounts and so on! I am convinced the no spending, decluttering, planning and simplifying life is really making a difference in our home. We are really enjoying the simpler things in life.
Also the clothes hanger challenge really makes you think. I am surprised at how little I wear & keep wearing! Big question is... in a few months time will I be able to get rid of what I've not worn?
DH has just tried to mow the lawn but the mower was not working. So he's stripped it down and ordered a new part to fix it. £7 instead of a new mower. Hurray!!
    Have a great weekend all.
We WILL stick to a budget for all of 2015 without loosing momentum. :j

I have a weird addition to the clothes hangar challenge - my washing machine broke, and I've had to wait a fortnight for a new one to be delivered - but thats 3 weeks washing! I don't mind doing a few sets of underwear by hand, but T shirts etc! I've had to be a bit inventive, and a lot more has got used than normally gets used, put it that way :)

:) I played this same game in January, it's interesting what you can find to wear which normally gets overlooked, isn't it? Think I need to get all the stuff off my hanging rail, which is 32 inches wide, if memory serves - it is across an alcove in my bedroom. Want to check and make sure blouses aren't hiding up among the jackets, many things are black or otherwise dark, and can get confused.

I also seem to have gone from an insufficiency to a glut of hangers, I may well sort out the best ones to keep and get rid of a few.

ETA Been busy and have evicted 15 hangers. I have also turned around the hangers of the things which have been worn most recently, as in the last 2 weeks, in such a way as they are harder to lift off this high-level rail. And brought the not-used latelies all to one end of the rail, ready to be worn in the next several workdays. Going to get them threads on my back and out in daylight.

By gum, I'd forgotten those nice Per Una and East blouses I'd got for pennies on the pound over the new prices in the chazzer. Looking forward to wearing them, it's better than going shopping-shopping, this stuff is already here and paid for.

Another scrapbooker here but it isn't a cheap hobby so be warned. As to school trips I got a part time job to send my boys on 2 school cruises each (anyone remember U S Uganda) and it was hard to find the money but I don't regret any of it as it gave them both the urge to travel which I didn't get until I was in my 60's.

I am so old it was the sister ship SS Nevasa for me and I had to get a Saturday job in Woolies to save for the 10 days on that.
I paint and that can be expensive

Tomorrow I am on a freebie. We have 2 free tickets for a tour of the Guildhall Museum in Sandwich. Hope we get good weather.

1 naughty spend and that was on my hobby.

Evening:beer:At long last I've caught up with all your doings:o Huzzah:j

Several pages back there was mention of Mersea. My parents were married there in 1966 and Dad's step brother still owns the house where my Grandmother lived. I loved the Company Shed seafood place down on the Hard

It's been good to read some of the pages and remind myself of the basics. One or two small slips starting to creep in but nothing too major. Had forgotten that I was going to try and source as much as possible from the charity shops so will remedy that. Treated myself to a blood red nail varnish from £land this week. As I work as a cleaner during the week it's nice to be able to paint my nails sometimes at the weekend. A frivolous but fun gesture.

I've been having a small think about Easter/Spring celebrations. Am going to friends tomorrow so have decided to make them a a sponge and decorate it with green grass icing and some little edible flowers I've already got at home. Will purchase a pack of £1 sheep to finish it off- all white bar one black one. It just amused me and makes a change from bunnies and chicks.

My lot have voted for chocolate rather than eggs as they get more chocolate for the same price:rotfl:

Hobbywise- I've knitted a few blankets over the last couple of years using all CS/freecycle wool. I have a dolls house and I find the packs of multi papers from £land and The Works are extremely good value for making cards. Also enjoy cross stitch and have various items unfinished tucked away. I find the craft section in the library is a good place to start looking for inspiration. I've come off Pinterest- I was losing too much time on it!

    Hi Shipmates

Well done to all those that are doing the "Back to front Hanger challenge". It is a real eye opener isn't it???? I keep being tempted to get something out to wear that I have just washed and returned a few days before. Only problem I have now is that it is taking me a while to decide what to wear, whereas before I kept wearing the same clothes. Nice to wear something different for a change I must say. I think since starting the challenge I already have a few items I want to get rid of because they keep looking at me and I am still not tempted to wear them. I will make a decision of what I don't want to keep when challenge comes to the end next year. I think the results of this challenge are going to be interesting for all of us that are taking part!!

Went over our £50 per week shopping budget this week by £7 so only have £47 next week. I blame hubby as he wanted to buy a selection of cheese and crackers this week and not to mention his weekly 2 bottles of wine @ £5.99 each. Oh well we did try but were in a rush and it turned in to a supermarket 20 minute dash!! Had to get home to finished chopping the logs for next winters log store. This is the first year we have it all filled up in March. Normally we are struggling to get it full by October. There have been a number of trees cut down where we live so the opportunity to collect them was too good to miss!! We supply all our winter hot water through burning logs and also heat all of our radiators burning logs. We also cook all of our meals using logs. So if we get a chance of getting logs locally especially in our own road we go for it big time!!

Langley has been to the vets but the vet can not see anything wrong with her leg except for her limping. The vet has given us 6 anti inflammatory injections to give to Langley over the next 6 days and if there is no improvement in her leg she said she would have to keep her in and x-ray it to try to find out what the problem is. Little Langley is fast a sleep under my kitchen table by my feet all cosy and warm. She spends the day outside on the grass until it is bed time then I bring her indoors with us!! I can't let her be with the others further up the garden as we have a Cockerel and he could squash her and hurt her leg further. Will update on Langley as and when!!

On the subject of saving coins!! Did any of you know that a lot of our current coins that are in use today are collectable. Seriously quite a few of them are!! For instance have a look at any 50p coins you have. Several of the designs on the back of the coin are very common but some of them have Olympic themes on and these are collectable. There is a War Heroes one which shows a man carrying another man this 50p coin is collectable too!! It would be hard to list all of the collectable 50p coins but if you Google them you will see the pictures of the collectable ones. Another collectable one is the NHS one!! If you Google it you will find out which ones to look for!! Some of the current collectable 50p coins are selling for £14 each. Another way to check which ones are collectable is to have a look on e*ay to see which ones are being sold!! I have 5 collectable ones now. I will probably give them to my nieces and nephews at some time!! Normally with coins the least amount of them there is the more collectable they become so in many years to come they will be much more collectable than they currently are. Mind you if you are a bit short of money you could sell any that you find in your change, why not!!!

Have a good weekend all!! And keep hold of those purse strings!! Oh and keep an eye out for those 50pence pieces, you never know!!!

Forgot to mention that Langley my little poorly hen is my avatar picture!! For those that are interested in what she looks like!!

    Hiya Folks

not been on here for a while as its all been a bit manic round here! well, am def. NBI - have rescued an old drawer (with no base in it) from my friend's neighbour (who is having bedroom re fitted and so throwing out fittings etc. This i then laid on top of some plastic that had covered a mattress last year (which had done duty too as a cover for floor when painting. This then was on top of an old work bench out side, which is under an awning. Inside I have planted seeds in pots with old plates underneath. There is enough plastic to bring forward to cover up the seeds and to secure with a couple of brinks. Blow buying a cold frame when yo can make one yourself!!

also have saved nearly £25 of 50ps in a special saving device called a century saver (when full = £100) - will now go and look at them Edwink to see if they are any of them as you have described :)

Have a oood day on calm waters folks!
