Ok I'm going to really focus on this now - I have a whole chicken cooking in the oven and hope to get 3 days of meals out of it without going to the shops, I have potatoes; tinned tomatoes, mushrooms, pasta, rice and a whole load of herbs and spices - was just wondering how people make chicken last 3 meals these days? Thanks

Well I managed a fairly cheap Mother's Day as invited mum to mine for lunch instead of going out or buying some tat, last time she was here was New Years day.

We had roast lamb, broccoli, peas, Yorkshires, roast pots, gravy, mint sauce, followed by sticky toffee pudding.

Only had to buy the broccoli and pudding as rest already in cupboard/freezer so spent £2.50 + 99p card...I'm happy and mums happy...win win

So far I have chicken pasta haha - surely I can be a but more creative than that? I blame Sunday night - don't fancy a roast dinner as had one today and made a HUGE pan of chicken curry for the freezer last week with loads of YS chicken thighs so I'm stumped :/

:) Chicken pie? Chicken risotto? Simmer the carcass down and fish out the bones and stuff when cooked, lovely rich broth which can be made into a hearty soup with the addition of veggies and seasoning and more chicken bits for a pie (they aren't the loveliest-looking bits but good to eat). They don't call it Rubber Chicken for nothing.

    Hi Tink

    Few ideas for you!!

Chicken stir fry with noodles or rice
Sweet and Sour chicken with rice or noodles
Cheesy chicken pasta (uses less chicken because of the cheese)
Chicken and veg or ham or pineapple pizza
    Chicken Casserole
    Chicken nuggets
    Chilli chicken with rice
    Chicken pockets/wraps with salad

Hope that is of some help. If unsure how to make just Google the meal and there will be plenty of recipes for you to follow!!

Have a good day shipmates!! Raining here and very bleak. What a change in the weather from last week. Plenty to do indoors so I don't mind!!

Poor little Langley has hurt her foot. Will run her over the vets in the morning if no better as they have an open clinic. I have given her a couple of anti inflammatory injections to help with pain. Have checked it myself several times now and I can not fathom what is wrong. I am wondering if she has jumped down off of something and landed funny. There is definitely not anything stuck in it and it is definitely not Bumble Foot so she may have a lovely journey out tomorrow on my lap!! She has become very tame since living with us so will have no problems taking her out in the car, thankfully!! All the others are running about like complete and utter lunatics, as per normal!!!

  • I've gotta admit i'm glad i don't have kids sometimes when you see the expenses at school! I remember when i was at school we had a no uniform day once a year for £1 and the highlight of my year was when we had the scholastic book fair and i could pick a book out! How times have changed...

I did spend yesterday, £28.30 on a chinese for four as it was mothers day. To be fair, this was the first one all year, which is pretty good for me. I'll be spending again on Thursday when I take mum out for a meal on her birthday!

Another NSD here Looks like a very low spend on food this week too.

Most expensive school trip I ever went on - School educational cruise. P and O British India line back in the day 10 days cost about £100 parents gave a deposit I had to work to get the rest and I did.

Our Scout group do a lot of camps foreign trips Jamborees ect so there is always a lot of fund-raising going on to allow the kids to go.
