Sounds like everyone is getting on quite well, only spend for me has been food shopping, got plenty of fruit in to stop night time biscut munching, and been getting to grip's with my new pressure cooker to make soup cooking faster.
Only thing I need is a boot up the bum to get back on track with accidental training, I seem to have lost the plot with cosentation[sp?]£71.93/ £180.000 -
Not a NSD here, but fairly frugal considering. It's both my children's birthdays soon and I got some presents for them from my local Facebook selling site. So money would needed to have been spent anyway.
DH also needs some toiletries but we were given a Boots voucher for xmas so not a cash spend. And DD unfortunately needs a new swimming costume, but if you'd seen the state of her current one after it came out of the washing machine you'd understand why! Seethrough is an understatement. Sports Direct beckons I think, as she needs it for her school lesson tomorrow.0 -
Day before payday so I transferred my excess money from last month to my ISA - £559.74! That's 12% of my target reached in the first month! I know some months will be more expensive than others but I am so proud of myself right now!0

Had a major sort through of shoes and boots this morning. Some bagged up and now in boot of the car to go to CS tomorrow!
No need to buy any more shoes and boots for me for the next couple of years I should think. Stuff that I had forgotten about. Shoes I had not worn in quite a considerable time and the realisation that actually there is allot of money sat in those wardrobes, it has kind of given me the resolve to pull up the drawbridge.
Thing is all the stuff that went to the CS last year, I haven't missed it one bit!
So thats two major things - the Emma Bridgewater collection nothing I want, need, covert or desire; and now no shoes and boots either. I can radically cut back on clothing as well now, probably buy the odd pair of jeans but nothing major.Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

I have managed to accumulate 16 NSDs, 14 of which did not involve the car so I haven't got to fill up with petrol for ages yet.
Have also put away £72 which is from our non spends on the lottery, BT sport and water bills. The two months of no Council Tax will also go the same way. I have decided to tuck away what we would usually spend on these to go towards Barcelona.
The lottery seems such an expense now and for £50 gain, we lost £212 so have decided to stop the silliness. When it was a pound a week, it seemed quite reasonable for a dream but at £2 twice a week it is not a good option.
However I am now getting almost a need to go out and spend - what on? Don't know yet I still feel as though I ought to be going out and spending, how weird is that? I have noticed that the more empty shelves and freezers are making me a little uneasy yet we live less than a ten minute walk to shops and there is more than enough food for another month at least. So there is no real reason to have massive stockpiles of anything.
Hope all have a lovely week

My OH likes to do the shopping and he has almost a Siege of Leningrad mentality about restocking items. I need everything to run down so I can give the cupboards a good clean. Last time I had a clear-out I was embarrassed at the number of items that were so badly out of date they had to be thrown away. That felt just likepouring money down the drain.0 -

tbh i think it's cos i've wasted a lot of money over the years on frivolous stuff, and this is the first month i've said no. The ten tasks I've set myself has helped a lot - i find if i focus myself on these i'm not tempted to spend at all. As I said I'm sure there will be months I want to buy stuff but I figure if I wait till I complete a task I really feel like I've earned them.0 -
Happy Monday peeps!! Last week was a good week not spending wise, went out to lunch with friends and took eldest to dental checkup but apart from that just groceries!
I relate so much to things that are written on this thread! I too am guilty of buying things for "best" or "going out". Thing is I rarely go any where that I need to dress up for so have stuff in my wardrobe that languishes barely worn for years! But no more, big decluttering in progress and while I will keep a couple of frocks to oneside for meals out the rest will be worn as day wear!
My larder cupboard is never over full now, I'm lucky to have a walk in understairs cupboard that has shallow shelving for storage. Nothing gets lost, however I still get teased by hubs for the 18 tins of beans we found in the cupboard of our old house when we moved! I think I just used to put a couple of tins in the trolley a week without checking or thinking!!!
Quick cuppa then back to the decluttering! Found a gem earlier, written in the back of an old notebook was a story by my then 6 year old son titled Magical mum! Ahh how sweet I thought! Halfway through reading and a 6 year olds typical toilet humour shines through and I thought, maybe not!!! Will have to embarrass him with that one later!
Have a good non spends week!!0 -
Hi. been struggling to keep up in the last few days. So many interesting posts to read.
Payday on Wednesday and still have a few pounds in the bank which is a good feeling.
Sorted some clothes out last week and think I'll do my shoes tomorrow as I know there are some in the cupboard that will never be worn again and don't need to be kept for 'just in case' as I have more than enough to keep me well shod for a few years.
I have plenty of summer clothing which won't get a lot of wear this year unless we get a heatwave so when I saw my DIL yesterday I asked her if she would like to borrow any of my dresses for her holiday in July as she is same size as me. She looked at what I had got & said she would so now she will be able to have some stuff that is new to her for her holiday at no cost and it will get used.
Not long until a new month then we can all reset our challenges.0
