Hi Shipmates
Everyone sounds very positive so well done. I was at a big family lunch yesterday but we went to a sizzlers pub which are quite reasonable. I paid for myself and DD £12.
Went Aldi and got some of the 59p sweet potatoes and jacket spuds, didn`t buy anything not on my list.
De-clutted some unwanted clothes to cs and made a menu plan for the week. Will spend more than usual on social stuff as sister here, but less on food, gas and elec as she insists on going half on everything.
Have a good day everyone.Make £2 a day challenge - doing well so far.0 -
There's been quite a bit of chatter on here since my last visit - including a lot of talk about 'monkey talk' and internal voices saying "buy buy buy".
In the last year or so I've come across the Chimp Paradox - book by Prof Steve Peters. It covers a lot of that 'internal chatter' and how we all have a chimp inside us who can be our best friend and worst enemy, sometimes at the same time!
Definitely worth borrowing from the library. I ended up buying my own copy as it's such a useful book and I try to go back to it regularly.
I'm trying to borrow Marie Kondo's book from the library but can't reserve it at the moment.
Thankyou for the suggestions of not keeping things for best- wore a beaded sparkly top to a friend's house last night for a small gathering. It made me feel lovely.
I hope the grey clouds are clearing for those facing troubles, worries and anxieties. Fingers crossed for clear skies and calm waters ahead.

Love the way this thread is motivating me into action rather than promises at the moment!
Had a big clear out, Amazon trade-in made £29 which I have just spent on a lovely big roll top breadbin, took a load of DVDs into CEX & made enough for a free tank of petrol so treated the car and me to a car wash!
Is it just me or are we all starting to find pleasure in the simplest things now?Started DMP Oct 2012 debtfree date 1st March 2020

Hello all. Not posted recently but no new news to report. Only spent money on food shopping this week at Lidl in Thursday (£16) and not paid till next Friday
good news is I will still have cash in my account day before payday having paid service charge to leaseholder, a ahem! Quite large CC bill ( cleared obviously) and my TaX bill
So a good January ( if that's not an oxymoron!)
A friend bought me the chimp book at Christmas ( not sure what I am supposed to make of that!) but it is interesting. It discusses us having an emotional brain ( the chimp) and the human, logical brain. I must say in parts I feel it's obviously written by a man (Steve peters I find is quite critical overall of the emotion brain). I'm also not sure why I should apply logic and reason when my "opponent" is not doing! Interesting stuff and well worth the read

Oooh! Haven't declared a spend last weekend. It was quite a lot (£69) but that bought 4 cashmere jumpers. I have been losing weight so most of my jumpers are quite big. Not a huge problem with jumpers but they don't look very smart when too big. So I got me two, and as my parents have been amazing since I have been so ill I treated them to one each ( they would never have bought anything like it for themselves). They were in the final reductions at M and S and are lovely. A nice treat, and a good deed returned

OOOH this thread is SO motivating. Looked in fridge & cupboards yesterday & thought 'not much in there, especially low on protein, had better go and shop!'
However the good ship NBI came to my aid and conquered the urge to spend by making lentil soup, spicy sausage casserole and tuna fish fishcakes all from scratch using stuff already in the house!
That's meals for this week sorted without spending a penny!
Although on that subject I WILL have to purchase some loo rolls though.
With respect to this morning's discussion about clothes - I have far too many most of which don't fit, but I excuse myself to myself by saying I go up and down in weight a lot so I need to keep a good supply. MUST stop that sort of lazy thinking - lose weight and keep it off and get rid of the wardrobe full I don't need.Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -

Netto used to sell them but they shut down. Tesco sell Nicky but is only the 2 ply standard and I would advise you to steer well clear of those.
The Nicky Elite which is the one you want is 3 ply, but they are really good they have a delicate perfumed scent to the rolls and they are soft and very much one up on Andrex. They do 18 rolls in Farm Foods for £3.75 which is a damn good deal, but I only go in there once a year so buy six packs and stacking them in the car is interesting
This is the one you want:-

Having said that Iceland stock their Petal loo rolls and they are made by Nicky now I am sure someone in the past mentioned these were really good as well and you get four for £1.00.
If you go to the Nicky website above and click on the customer care they have a customer telephone number, they will be able to help you I am sure. Someone mentioned Home Bargains stock Nicky as well but make sure it is Elite!Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:
