  • Hi katkin loved reading about your finds and I think it is smashing to rescue stuff that you can give a good home too. Less going into the landfill as well :) I decided to walk round to our local shop to pay the rent and buy some extra gas . I don't drive my dh does. We would do a little bit of shopping on a Monday and pay the rent and do any little bits and pieces that are important. I decided we did not need to go out into town today and so I fancied the wee walk. It is cold but bright today and managed to hang the washing outside too which is great. My dh is cooking the tea tonight and we have plenty in the freezer and cupboards. I have bought yarn and thread and fabric all in the sales online and have plenty now to enjoy crafting with for the rest of the year. I am sticking to my lists when we do shop and are very mindful of what each penny is spent on more than ever and this place is such a lovely supportive place to be. Full of great tips wisdom and laughs and hugs. x Margaret

    Hi shipmates

I had breast cancer 3 years ago now.I focused on being stoic for everyone and made no fuss to make it easier for everyone else. I carried on working as long as I could and quite sucessfully ignored it and never talked about it.I never allowed my inner chimp to discuss cancer, steadfastly didnt allow myself to acknowledge it It's only now that I can reflect on what a toll being brave took on me.Thank goodness I can potter about at home and my biggest foe is this bloomin wardrobe.

    Hi Vulpix

Bless you!! You are a remarkable woman!! I could not have managed to do what you did when you were faced with such a major health issue!! Well done you for being so brave!! You are an inspiration!!!

    All the best to you!!

Ooh I had a nice time buying fabric, see I am like a lot of people, I get endorphins from buying and have to keep myself in control but I did enjoy it today. I use a german online shop for certain fabrics
    http://www.fabrics-hemmers.com/

I bought wool loden and beautiful real silk with a little stretch, expensive in total but will make lovely garments. One of the lodens is to make a jacket in dark grey and that will be a handy jacket to go with a black skirt and white blouse, just in case of a funeral

I am looking forward to folding these and layering them with tissue paper in a newly emptied cupboard in my little craft room. I have decided I am no longer going to buy ok fabric of dodgy quality because it takes a long time to make a nice garment and the fabric quality makes all the difference. Cue for me, to sort out `rubbish` fabric and again, a bit at a time, to be handed over to the cs

    Edwink,thank you xxx

That's what I like about this thread we can just say how we feel and it's ok.

Took my daughter back to uni today and was talking to her about what I wrote earlier, the first time ever we have talked about me having cancer so I think venting my spleen here may have lowered my defenses a bit.I had just been back from honeymoon 2 days when I had a routine mammogram so make a point of going ladies I didn't feel ill. I thought there must be a problem with their machine! Not the best start to married life for us but as Mr V lost a previous wife to skin cancer and stepdaughter her Mum I underplayed it somewhat.

I was also telling dd1 about not enjoying spending money on myself so we went to the garden centre and I bought a stone birdbath with vouchers and a tenner.I don't feel guilty one bit and I will get a lot of pleasure from it.:D

It doesnt end there either I bought a fern for the sitting room and a throw to go on our bed when we have house viewings only:o

Thats it now purse locked again.

Have a look at this old MSE Thread about loo rolls - allot of Nicky fans on that as well. Also you can get them from Waitrose but not sure how good their pricing is compared to say Home Bargains and Farm Foods:-

No I don't think we have. Think I will go on the HB and the FF websites to see where the nearest ones are to me. Thanks for your reply.

  • Im going to try and keep up the shop less in supermarkets all year. I think ive been once this week for two items, thats a record for me. I have had some spends this week, a huge tub of epsom salts, some solid shampoo, but nothing excessive. Im going to make more use of my cineworld card, been busy with study and the stuff thats been going on. This mornings breakfast cost me around 60p, am also eating a lot of porridge as breakfast oats. Im using up toiletries and body washes, I saw some nail art in a salon that would have been 15 quid, I bought the same for a pound. I think im very lucky in the respect that if I do need clothes I have a very low cost cs near me, its been a year since I bought an item that wasnt second hand.

I also have shoes that Im going to ebay, heels, cant do heels anymore, will get onto it tomorrow.

I could do with a haircut as its getting v long, but given that its pony tailed most days I'll wait a bit.
