Wow! I am seriously impressed! Thanks to the lovely people here I posted my parcel of books to Amazon trade-in at 10.15 on Saturday morning (having never done anything like that before in my life) and I've just received an email saying the amount has been credited to my account :j:j I have to wait up to another 5 days for the £5 bonus, but I can live with that.
And thank you to whoever pointed out that they are accepting the River Cottage box set. I too have that sitting on top of my shelves collecting dust, so that will be posted off the weekend after next (next time I'll get the chance).
I completely love this thread :beer:0 -
Well, a bit of a spends day today. As well as paying tax on my tax return
I have also done a boots order. At £37 it sounds horrendous but, got sanitary protection for half price a box, berocca on 3 for 2, garnier bb cream that I use all summer at a third off, deodorant that I can't get easily ( or more cheaply) elsewhere and a couple of other things. Plus, free delivery to the store up the road and I had a get £5 of points when you spend £35 before the end of January so I saved £23 and got an additional £5 in points on stuff I need and don't have to use up quickly. :T

If you have a poundworld or poundland near you, they do a generic version of berocca and the ingredients are identical to the berocca brand. Ive compared them before and there's no difference.0 -
Down the escalator, up the escalator today!.
Felt pleased at knocking my current car insurer's premium down this morning only to find that my husband's car has developed an unexpected problem which will cost about £250 to rectify. Still , as they say, "every little helps". Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet0 -
Hi all (again)
I,ve slept on and off today - but am making dinner as everyone else in the house is feeling better and doing stuff, so having to be nurse to myself....
DH gave me a great surprise, a Humax PVR - he did some emergency work on a clients roof in time for Christmas, they then went on holiday and have just come back - they gave him £100 bonus  saying that it would have cost more in insurance excess if he hadn,t done it.
I want to thank the very kind member of this board that offerred me a tv box - it always makes me smile to think how lovely people can be x
Seeing Bexter comment about BB cream - I bought some CC cream from Ald! a while ago for about £4. I used it for the first time last Friday, and its amazing - great coverage, makes my skin feel good and is nearle £24 cheaper than my foundation of choice  I don,t wear makeup often, so have never minded 'treating' myself, but nuts to that now, I noticed L!dls do the same brand of CC
Back off to chillax - nurses orders (me LOL)Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Hi Ladies
Hope you don`t mind if I join in, been following and the thread is so inspirational so thanks everyone.
I am on my second NSD and intend to keep going with this for hopefully the rest of the week.
I have listed some bits on e@@@ today and also looked through my books for Am@@@. I have a box waiting to go off and that will be £10.50 if they are all accepted. Something I wouldn`t have thought about doing.
I made two cakes yesterday, gave my daughter one and made a pan of lentil and bacon soup which will do lunch for a few days. I have loads in the freezer and cupboards so hoping for a low spend January.
Keep up the good work everyone.Make £2 a day challenge - doing well so far.0 -
Yay we made £50 on some baby stuff we sold so that's put away for the house fund.
No spends today and probably not tomorrow either. Really trying to save hard now for my masters and for the house stuff that needs doing. I think I have enough to pay for two years of study but still need to save 3K for the final year and for bits for the house.
The ball pit and the bookcase arrived today. I'm going to blow up the pit tonight as we have GD tomorrow. I can't wait to see her little face when she sees her very own ball pond

So, I've been a stowaway aboard the ship, hiding away until now. This morning my Ne*t Directory statement arrived. As I was opening it I was wondering how much it would be this month (as you can tell I haven't exactly always been mindful with my spending). Well this month it was £0.00 - err that would be because I haven't bought any "stuff"'from there this month. The penny might finally have dropped (excuse the pun) - if I don't spend I don't get a bill! Better late than never I suppose to have worked this out and truly understood it!!0

Like lots of others I struggle to keep up with this thread. I have been using my thanks to mark where I got to.
The last few days I have been finding lots of posts I am sure I have already read still needing clicking. Yesterday there was over 4 pages of them so I did not have time to post. I tend to forget what I have read when there are so many posts.
Sorry to go back to one from days ago but I have other tips on oven cleaning. I have a none stick lining I put in the bottom of my oven it catches all the drips. I just wash it when it gets spills and put it back. Sometimes I just scape it off with a pallet knife straight into the bin.
The rest is self clean apart from the shelves.
To clean the shelves add about 2 heaped table spoons of soda crystals to you sink and fill it up with host water. Put your shelves in the water and leave to soak for a couple of hours. If your sink is a little small you will have to do it a half at a time. After the soak you can just wash them up with washing up liquid and the dirt comes off with your cloth.
I save very holey cloths for this job and just throw the cloth away when I have finished. You can put other things in the soda crystals such as stainless steel or chrome parts of an oven but DO NOT PUT ALUMINIUM IN SODA CRYSTALS. You will ruin it.
The vanish paste is best for any glass.0
