Clocking in!
Been a-wal all week-sorry, so buy at work, and from yesterday I have the grandchildren until tomorrow, so DD & her OH can have a weekend away.
Baby is 11 months and into everything so I'm cream crackered!
The only good thing is all I spent in the last 7 days was a "normal" shop in Lidl and diesel.
Have bought a bit more stuff which I wouldn't buy for grandkids-muffins etc, but that's it.
My rotary washing line has snapped in the gales (with washing on!) this morning, the washing is over an maiden now, and I have taken pics of the base where it has sheered through the aluminium because I KNOW somewhere I have a 5 year guarantee-so will try and claim under that.
So hopefully I won't need to renew.
It is very VERY windy here.
Off again now DGS is having nap-not for long I'm sure.
Will have to try and read the posts tonight if I can keep awake.
Hope this ship is not going into stormy waters-I can see the sea from bedroom-it's pretty bad out there!
Take care everyone

Thank you for the amazon book selling info, I'm going to take a look later to see if my old books are worth anything.
Its surprising how much money items can fetch. I found two old Hoover attachments whilst having a clear out, so put them on ebay & made £40
To think I was going to chuck them in the bin, lol.Kindness costs nothing0 -
Hi all,
Hope your all keeping safe in this weather.
Thank you all for your TV advice - time to look into each of the options to find something that works for us.
We,re quite lucky here - bit windy but nothing too mad, can,t believe some of the pictures on the news.
Ploughing my way through the laundry - DD is here and has cleared her 'floordrobe' - she did offer to do her own washing, but I said I would do it to minimise use of tumbledryer.....
Dinner will be a use up of fridgebottom veg with some hoi sin sauce from cupboard stash with egg noodles.
NSD today - I did buy DS a watch for passing his maths retake, but that came from ebay sales.
I am going to join you all with amazon books sales - I have decided to get rid of the majority of my cookery book collection - I have at least 200 books and tend to use the internet for recipes nowdays - I have most of the most common collections Jamie, Nigella, Stein, Slater to name a few - time to say goodbye
Have a fab day all xNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Back from town!
Daughters trainers were £11.99
Sons trainers were £12.99
Present for sons friend was £5 exactly.
Car seat we reserved was £25.
I did buy the veg seeds we needed as we happened to be in wilkinson anyway. They had their full selection out and it was 3 for 2. So I spent £4.60 on 6 packets of veg seeds. My mum in law is going to buy onion sets and seed potatos. We should be pretty much self sufficient in fruit and veg this year!
Saved not spent - despite son stomping his feet for sweets, pointing at the cake shop for a cake and then him and daddy wanting a McDonald's we instead had bananas, half a cereal bar and water in the car. I never remember to take things with me so felt really pleased at this. I saved at least £5-£15 by doing this as we were out over the kids snack time and I probably would have ended up buying an early lunch.
So stuck to list with one exception which was thought about and on the need list anyway. Didn't buy any wants and no frivolous spending!
Good morning so far! Husband is making scrambled egg on toast for lunch - yummy! Will go and sort tea now so it's out and ready and he doesn't suggest a 'Saturday night takeaway'!
IWAB x2024 - happy, healthy, quality over quantity, buy nothing new (and 2nd hand only if NEEDED), mindful spending, nurturing myself and family, living for now.
Mortgage @ 31/12/23 £248k - too high, interest rate gone up - want this down asap!
Debt @ 31/12/23 £16k - no interest - will clear over 5 years hopefully.
Emergency savings £4k - been ransacked over last year - needs attention :-(0 -
Hi everyone
loving reading all of this, so would love to come aboard please. I am sorry to read of what some of you have suffered in the workplace. It is horrible to suffer it and I too have been there. I am in a happier place in my life now. I retired through ill health 7 years ago after being in a r.t.a on my way to a job which I did love and was very happy in it. The children have all flown the nest and it is just me and my dh
We have no debt whatsoever but it wasn't always like that we did struggle. Now we save what we can and pay our bills and have enough over for little outings and treats. We would never wish for millions of pounds, we enjoy our life together on what we have. I am very keen to become a good sewer and have recently spent on fabric in the sales and thread and some patterns in the sales too online. I have enough yarn bought for little projects now and have bought cards and some presents in the sales for the coming year, so pleased to have them bought. I am also going to keep reading on here and get inspiration from you all:) I will be thinking very carefully about where the pennies go from here on in. Have a good weekend everyone Margaret x

I've only spent on groceries this week and my budget is on track for the first time ever. I'm pleased with myself as we are having relatives around tomorrow with party food, but I've managed to cover all of that in my spends.
It would have been nice to get out and get some fresh air, but fear we might be blown away!

Just popping back to say Amazon 7 books = £30 plus £5 bonus
- would have been more, but as I picked up my box set of river cottage, the box ripped:mad:..... Hey ho, £30 not bad for a starter.:D

Sorry to be a pain but can anyone tell me which page the information about amazon books was posted ? Was it by NC6NH?
I lost the thread a bit there.
Went to get a few bits from aLDi only got exactly what I needed. Queues of cars to get in - it wasn't until I left I realised it was because of half price sales. I am so switched off from sale signs I didn't even see them! Clearly nothing on my list was in a sale.
DH has had to go out to get car parts. When he returns he will have a home made 'pub snack'. Warm Bacon brie and cranberry pannini with bowl of chips. Milky coffee and warm mince pie and ice cream to follow. Actually only had to buy brie this morning rest out of cupboards and freezers winding stock down.
I love this thread!!0
