    Ahoy Ship Mates :A

The printer / scanner has gone caput  We need one for home-working and CVs etc. D*mn :(

It was the kettle the other day...if these things come in 3s please don't make it my washing machine :o

I usually treat myself to an expensive Busy Bee or Organised Mum diary / household organisers - this is the first year I've not and have moved into the pages at the end of the old one :D Work offer a diary but even they've stopped it as a cost cut. So I've been out with the ruler marking up my poundshop ring bound pad. Not ideal but I'm sure it'll suffice. I'll keep my eye open for discount diaries over the next few days - I'm lost without a decent hardbacked one and more importantly a budget book! Here I note all my income and every single expenditure down, keeping the receipts to balance my books :money: Gosh I love being a moneysaving geek!

Have to just say once again how impressed I am with the coconut oil. Not only great for cooking, its sorted my chapped lips and my skin is lovely :T

Keep up the good work mateys

NSD for me yesterday. Had a quiet couple of days just pottering about the house as kids are back at school and the weather's rubbish out

We DO need to do grocery shopping at some point but trying to avoid that as long as possible.

Have cleared out my FB by 'unfollowing' people who get on my nerves lol

Oh and I have a certain boxing day bath products order still processing which I've emailed them to see if they will cancel. I can live without the stuff, although I reckon they probably won't get round to seeing the email until they have dispatched the stuff so will see what happens with that one!

Poundshop diaries come in A5 or A4, hardbacked - they're really good value :)

Odd question I know but as any cat owner will know cat wee is pungent.

My tom cat has been frightened of the Christmas tree since 2007 when we had him. First two Christmas we had to use a plug in thing and keep him out of the room. Next couple of years he skirted the room on his belly watching it suspiciously.
We thought he was Ok with it this year until I was putting it down and found he had weed/sprayed on it and I suspect he might have been doing over Christmas. My instinct is to bin it , the thought of partly cleaned off wee (as you cant see It) being stored in loft for 11 months sounds like a dec 15 Christmas horror which I might just advert now.
No plans to buy a new one though

Having a tom puddlytat (fortunately he hasn't sprayed yet) his litter tray whiffs enough for me to know I would get rid of the tree asap.

If only they could invent a perfume that had the staying power of catpee. x

Even if they do dispatch, you can send it straight back under the distance selling regulations

N6CNH you say you traded in some books to Amazon. I use to sell my books till the postage got too high. Can you tell me how you return them to Amazon and who pays the postage? Mostly maths books from teaching days and a few cook books.

If you trade in £10 worth postage is free. But it's only selected books. Here's the link: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/browse/ref=trdrt_cart_store?ie=UTF8&node=440443031

You may type in the ISBN and find that the book hasnt been found, check it's correct, and if still not showing then they wont buy it from you. I managed to make the £15 by asking relatives if there were any they wanted to chuck at me with me donating those that aren't of any value. Most don't have the time to eBay or do the trip to the charity themselves. So there winners, I'm a winner, and the charity shops too! Happy days! :)

Had my endoscopy last night and apparently I do not have cancer - how did I not know that was what they were expecting? So now to wait for the biopsy results.

I agree with the poster earlier questioning why so many go to A&E rather than their GP or walk in centres. I think some of it is the "want it now" mentality of people who feel ill and want someone to put it right immediately. Personally I think that the country needs re-educating on what constitutes a justifiable emergency.

Glad to hear that is not cancer pauline x

As for drop in centres 53 have been closed and so have many A&E departments because of Tory cuts.

Little update for those of you her were kind enough to be understanding when I fell off the wagon:

£9 dress worn yo work and many compliments, mini-chopper used and is my new best friend in the kitchen because it's so quick and easy, made some yummy granola bars with no sugar, fitbug gadget has been brilliant, increased my steps, using the stairs and slipping into a bit of a jog when walking the woofs JUST because it is so motivating!!!!

Only one I haven't used yet is the Zforeman grill so may or may not keep that, we'll see.

Essentially I think various commentators were right, we have a tendency to be too hard on ourselves and actually my "slip" has worked out really well so I shall embrace it instead.

Thanks to all and sail on my lovely seafarers!!!

    Evening:D
Having finally made it to the beginning of the January posts could I please thank you for all your contributions. I have now been able to narrow down my own aims:
1.Reduce charity shop buys...first challenge will be the jumble sale:rotfl:
2.Reduce [note not remove:rotfl:] crisp purchase and thereby consumption. I've bought a bag of popping corn in anticipation of trying out some home made snacks
3.Being more mindful of make do and mend. Ist one to try will be new slippers insoles. Although I have rediscovered the original bottle of cream cleaner today when decluttering I have, in the meantime, made some of my own. Reeks of vinegar a bit but seems to do the job ok.
4.Not buying any more books until I've read the ones I've got from the pile of doom:eek:So far I have looked at one and sent it to the CS and started a paperback which I am loving.
5.Alternative non paper gift wrappings. Not sure how I'll go about this as yet but a while off until I need to think about that one.
6.Contributing to the food bank when I'm in the SM and choosing the basics items in Sains rather than in Tesco where it is fairtrade.
7.More recycling. Research done and shared on our local FB page with my finds. Am able to put more in my kerbside collection than the official blurb online says and another scheme I use now takes more items that when I last checked:j
8.Make more of a contribution to charity. Give as you live site joined, buying all greeting cards from CS [cheaper than the SM and lovely selection] and in the Autumn once I've resigned as our Morris dancing secretary [will have done two years by then and have only been officially a member since Apr 2013] I've identified a charity that I think I can volunteer for where I can use my skills as a literacy tutor which is what I did when I worked full time [redundancy]
9.Dry January- going well so far and have signed up for a 4 mile fun run which will stretch me. Not sure I can run all that way but will give it my best shot and walk a bit if necessary.
    10. Declutter [already good at this] without recluttering [so far so good- even managed to put some books that Mum gave me for the jumble sale back in the jumble bag. Old habits die hard:rotfl:]

So thank you one and all. Am most grateful.

    Evening all,

    Pauline - brill news x

Had to part with some cash today, £16.55 in Lidddddls, £9 of that on manflu repair equipement Grrrrrr......

Quick question - we have a fairly big chest freezer, which was always used to full capacity and was full to the brim prior to Christmas, but with the kids getting older (youngest 16) - I tend to buy to fill the freezer now.

The question is should I get rid of it? - we have an American fridge freezer too, but its not a huge amount of freezer space - don,t know what to do.....
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!
