Good morning all. I am so pleased to see so many people coming out of lurkdom to join in here ( I don't know what you have started Slowdown, but I like it!). Lots of declutterers on the thread and I was inspired (shamed) into joining in. Have tidied up my office and cleared under my bed and cleaned it ( filthy job, lazy mare that lives here never does it!). Sorry to hear about boy problems IDIFM. I would say man problems but it sounds not appropriate!! I agree with leaving him to it, if he cares at all he will come and find you, if not - what a loser! You are better off without.

Third NSD in a row for me, nor decluttering is done time for a coffee and planning first craft project, a pair of pillowcases in lovely fabric I got as a flat sheet from the White company several years ago. 600TC cotton double flat sheet reduced to 15 pounds! Will get at least 4 pillowcases out of it and I couldn't buy decent ones new for that price.

    Have good days all.

    Bexster :)

The way I describe it is that YES, Kent IS the Garden of England, but every decent garden has a compost heap... and that is where Gravesend comes in!

Hi everyone, sorry to butt in on your lovely thread, I've been reading for a couple of days and just got to this and I laughed out loud :rotfl:
I spent the first 19 years of my life in Gravesend, I visit Mum there regularly, and I couldn't think of a more apt description:rotfl:

Back to lurkdom, carry on with the good work folks!

Hi Rosyq, which part of Gravesend is your Mum? My family are still there and I visit a couple of times a year but am always so pleased to leave the town behind me (not my family though)! Mum and my sister are near the girl's grammar school and Dad is in Istead Rise.

I'm feeling ratty today as I had my neighbours from hell having the police called again last night. The police van was outside for ages with bright lights when I was trying to have an early night.

It's nearly my time of the month too which doesn't help.:p

Anyway, I have just done the vacuuming downstairs and about to have a bubble bath.

I'm having chana masala with steamed veggies for lunch. When I order an Indian takeaway I stretch it out by making my own rice and veggies so I got the chana out of the freezer so it is a NSD.

I have now ran out of facial moisturiser do any of you have any suggestions for a more natural moisturiser? I am thinking of doing the oil/warm water cleansing routine and I wonder if moisturiser is needed after this? I will give it a go and see.

I tried it and found my skin got a little dry, I now use oil and a facial scrub and finds that works better for me. Lots of people seem to like the OCM though so it might just be me.:)

  • Hi all, can I join, have to to work now, have just read through, but will come back tonight. I work in M"s on the returns dept, you can imagine the queues and grumbles, but we try to smile, (not always possible with some people tho). One lady came in moaning about her husbands christmas present he bought her, "not only was is a bigger size that she was but he only spent £10 on me,) ungrateful lady dog, that's all I can say, lucky to get anything. Love the thread.

Flying around like a chicken without a head today, had to pick up some cleaning for DD, and then to Sittingbourne to pick up some curtains for her (she's not feeling well so I am her legs today :):)) dropped all the stuff off, then came home and have de-cluttered my sitting room of Decs and tree.
All packed away until next Christmas.
Started to declutter conservatory, but too blooming chilly out there so have concentrated on the glory hole A.K.A. cupboard under the stairs :) golly there's stuff in there that hasn't moved for years !!! its all gotta go. Its a lot tidier now thank goodness.Just about to make the soup vat for next weeks lunches.I have lots of bendy leeks and spuds so that's ok .Plus I found a bag of onoins that I had forgotten that I'd bought pre -xmas so they need dicing up and freezing.I got a piece of HM steak and kidney pie out of the freezer last night so I'll have that with some spring greens and mixed veg for dinner tonight. Pondering about the pineapple in the conservatory I may make some fritters for lunch with some batter and a bit of ham as I have some in the fridge The rest I will slice and put in the fridge to have with a dollop of natural yoghurt over the weekend .This food mountain my start moving soon.I also have my monthly stock take to do of the cupboards and update the list of stuff I have pinned to the inside door of each of my cupboards (yes I am that organised :):):))Tomorrow I am out to dinner so only have breakfast and lunch to make Plenty of porridge in store and lunch will be leek and tattie soup :):):) My purse is firmly closed for the foreseeable future.I'm taking my grandsons out somewhere on Monday but it will be a freebie as we will take a picnic (weather permitting) and I have my English Heritage ticket and they are all listed on it :)Then life finally gets back to normality on Tuesday, but I have decided that I am going to do a lot more decluttering this month .My friend just rang to say she has a pair of M&S single light oak wardrobes going free so I said yes please, as my grandsons can do with them :):):) nothing wrong with them but her son has had fitted wardrobes put in and was going to skip them !!!
I just hate waste, and she knows me so well.
Right must crack on with the soup and a bit more de-cluttering.

Wow this thread is so fast moving! Another NSD here (don't count essentials, we need fruit and milk). We have resisted takeaways this holiday despite illness. We do succumb to MuckyYucky Ds occasionally, kids love them but we have agreed to avoid them for as long as possible, maybe long enough to go off them completely.
I am using up the last of the old veggies and taking stock of what food we have in so I can do a very calculated shop next week. I will still be using the supermarkets for various practical reasons but I will be trying the market more, a farm shop out of my usual shopping radius I have never been to but recommended by a friend and a local butchers (haven't been in there for years :o)

Sadly not a NSD here, needed toilet rolls and milk, and also bought the makings of tomato soup as DD has decided that's what she'd like to take for her packed lunch, and lots of YS rolls for packed lunches too which have been stuffed into the freezer.
It's cold and miserable here so not a NSD on the heating either, but needs must. It will be a declutter of the Wardrobe of Doom this afternoon. Am rather dreading it.

Still not spent on food since NYE which was just a few essentials. Yesterday's lunch was Stilton and bacon baguettes , tea on NYE was the last of the parsnip soup, and today me and hubby will use the last of the prawns in a pasta. I have the start of bacon and Stilton rolls rising in the hot press ATM. Been a long time since I last made bread but hubby helped with the kneeding so fingers crossed

Was an early start for us this morning. Mum had to go into hospital this morning. She's on a drip for today, operating tomorrow. Nothing serious, just she's not getting any younger and we do worry. She also has a planned op in two weeks, all these anaesthesia can't be doing her forgetfulness too good. And then there will be the row about her driving to look forward to :(

I'm working tonight. Hopefully it won't be too busy and I'll get done by 10. Hubby gives off at me cos most nights he has to get up to put me to bed as I've fallen asleep on the sofa. Tomorrow is a 12 hr shift, not looking forward to that as it's the last day of the holidays and we will be bunged all day. Still got to take the hours whilst they are there. It will quiet down soon enough

Hubby has cleaned out a couple of cupboards this morning and has tidied up the " greenhouse " ( think a block built shed with lots of windows and plastic roof) We have the veg plot dug over and are deciding what we are going to grow. I said for him to find what seeds we have and perhaps get them started in the back bedroom

Right , away to start on lunch

Had a walk down the road as far as the library as I spent an evening reserving all the books I fancied to read this year but at a cost of 70p each I am not so sure it was worth it. Bought some yarn to crochet some dishcloths in the woolshop and then went to Lidl for milk and coffee and also chocolate to make fudge in my new slowcooker.I knew there was a reason I hated Lidl - the queues and the fact they don't give you time to pack anything. Had a look round Mandco the only clothes shop in our little town and the jacket I fancied in the summer at a fashion show was reduced to half price. None in my size or in the colour I wanted ( very money saving) But the sales girl said I should try online and then I just had to have a look especially when my OH said I'll buy it for your birthday:D To make up for getting a new jacket decided to tidy out the hall cupboard and tried on my coats and jackets and left out 2 coats that don't fit to give to thinner friends.
