  • After my last message on here I think I need to think about myself a bit more. BF is a gamer on PC and I'm getting bored of going to his place. All I did new years day is watch TV all day and evening. He wasnt bored!!
This has got to change. Decided not to go to his tonight and stay in and sort out my place.
Not sure I want to see him tomorrow. This is the reason for my boredom. What's the point in going round if I'm sitting by myself on sofa??
Any how Ive decided to eBay stuff and to start doing g things by myself. Things have got to change.
On a good note I went to bank to put in money instead of taking it out. Bought YS veg for tomorrow's tea. All in all I spent 92p. I'm going through my food cupboards and seeing what I have and buying food that will go with what I still have left after Xmas.

I went to a local market stall and spent £2.20 on fruit. The boys eat it at a rate of knots when they are at home. I also got beans to bulk out a casserole, vegetable stock powder and some milk (another thing the boys are always using up).

Have been reading every day from the beginning but felt nervous about jumping aboard-and I get sea sick quickly-but have decided to take the plunge (or not I hope!) if I can?

Went back to work today after being off since the 23rd which was a baptism of fire-but I survived.
I usually shop in L*dl, which is in the town I work in (20 miles from home and nearest L*dl) so went in after work and spent £26.
This will see us for a week at least with our leftover food. I needed bread, milk, fruit & veg and cheese, yogurts etc.
    Usually I'd spend over £40.

Was going to pop to Tesco after to buy the £10 slow cooker if they had one, its exactly the same size and shape to the one I have and use 2 or 3 times a week.
I HAD thought another one would be good, as when I have all the family/friends here I borrow my daughter's slow cooker and have two going.
BUT THEN i thought of you lot & this thread, and that I only borrow the 2nd slow cooker about 3 times a year.....so do I need another one......NO I said and drove past Tesco!!

Whilst I've been off we have started to clear the attic (this is almost a full time job) tomorrow I have bags of stuff for the CS including what they would call "rags" which I have bagged up accordingly.

The spare room now has about 7 boxes of stuff in to ebay-when the urge takes me!

Stretched mince for tea from spag bol tonight, and will add chilli and kidney beans for tomorrow nights tea with rice.

Washing dried on line today-I pegged it out at 7am in the dark-it looked a mess! Was hoping hubby would bring in-but he was busy in attic. Luckily it hadn't dampened down when I got home, and I could fold most of it without the need of using an iron-another saving of electric and time.

Love reading everyone's posts, it's quite uplifting!

Not a NSD today as I had to post some thank you cards to the UK and buy a registered letter envelope for some forms. That said, it was only a 6€ spend so not too bad.:)
I'm not planning on going out tomorrow so other than DD's which may or may not go out (it's sometimes a bit random!) tomorrow should put me back on the straight and narrow.
Meals are getting a bit simple and inventive but I don't want to buy anything until my Monday trip to the market. The freezers are full of all sorts of things so I really need to work my way through them. Bean bake with stewed plums or frozen blackberries anyone??? :D

I had a gel manicure and eyebrow dying/trimming today which cost me £36. That was £30 left from Christmas money and £6 out of the grocery budget. Still can't get anything bigger than a fag paper in the freezer and cupboards so not feeling guilty about it either.
I am budgeting £50 per week for spending to cover groceries and personal spending but as OH buys something everytime he goes to the SM its not as frugal as it sounds. My aim is towards no mindless spending when I go into town with a friend rather than the day to day food shop. Once I go into Deb..nhams the brain shuts down. I only have a PAYG mobile and use about £5 per month so I am fairly thrifty already its just the impulsive clothes buying that has to go. I am back to work at the CS before Easter (when they open a new shop in my little town) after having a few months off which is a bit dangerous as we have lots of lovely stuff donated and its very tempting when its cheap.

I'm pleased to report that this journey has got off to a great start. Yesterday was an NSD. A visit to MILs for a lovely dinner and then straight home to cozy up and get out of that ghastly weather we had so no spends whatsoever :)

Today was a spend day although planned. It was the weekly food shop which came in under budget so pleased with that and I seemed to have a trolley full. No sweets and biscuits though. I can't stand the sight of them since I received enough to sink our ship over Xmas.

So the plans for this weekend are to get on top of the housework, some crafting and visiting friends. As long as I keep busy I should stay out of the shops.

I hope you are all pleased with your progress so far. It's great to have the support of like minded people to keep me motivated.

Enjoy your Friday evening. Until tomorrow DC1 :)

Many posts back a poster wondered if it would be expensive to glaze a greenhouse: more than 30 years ago I was gifted a 12 ×8 greenhouse which had lost most of its glass, we were able to buy 'greenhouse' glass quite cheaply.....the company is, I think still in business, but as its in a Dublin suburb would not be of any great help to most ofyou, just making the point that a little research might be helpful.

Evening shipmates, hope you're all feeling grand this fine chilly evening..

Haven't been over the doorstep for 3 days now so no shopping for me and no plans to go out for another 3 days either but I suspect I may have a case of cabin fever by then so may have to go for a walk at some point :rotfl:

Have some brisket and a couple of roast tatties to use up from lunch yesterday so I'm currently steeping the remainder of some soup mix I had in a jar and I've took some swede and cauli out of the freezer to make a soup tomorrow. I cooked the brisket in slow cooker and kept the stock so that'll be used up as well.

If turns out ok should last me a few days, I'm sure my body will appreciate some decent food for a change rather than the carp I've had for last week :rotfl:

Had a quiet day today, did some cross stitch but had to stop when it rained as room got too dark and refuse to put lights on at 2pm! So while I waited for the rain to pass I grabbed a pile of papers/magazines from spare room and sorted them out...95% of it ended up in the recycling bin

    Hello:D
There's been a lot of stuff leaving GBT today...big bag of plastics to the recycling and a bag of books to the Lions shop which sells just them. I even put back the paperbacks that my Mum gave me to donate because my conscience was pricked by the reminder of my large book pile I already own. Somehow failed to leave the library without two books though but at least they'll be returned.

I've picked up the swing top beer bottles from freecycle and have done some research into how to make ginger beer. It's my soft drink tipple of choice when I'm driving:j

Another small shop done. Picked up some good yellow stickered items that have gone into the freezer for next week alongside some organic bananas which the chap reduced even more to 29p a bunch. Result. Tomorrow I shall be making lemon curd in the slow cooker to use up the bag of reduced priced lemons from earlier in the week. They were an impulse buy but I had decided on the spot what to do with them. I love making lemon curd this way as you can just leave it rather than having to babysit it. I have no patience when it comes to cooking!

Have just declutted last year's diary into the recycling bin....sadly satisfied that I cut out the ribbon to add to the stash:rotfl:

  • Must be a day of reduced bananas as I picked up a massive bunch today (9 bananas) for 39p. I am going to make banana bread tomorrow, enough for 4 loaves, 3 of which I can freeze. My daughter likes it in her lunchbox and I feel a bit better putting a slice of that in than say a kitkat.
