Then explain why only the vouchers fell out and none of the other (low/no value) contents did. I have conducted some (none scientific) tests using identical open envelopes and all contents are dislodged when shaken. I might add that the envelope flap had to be wide open to achieve release.

OP
Very non scientific as you no doubt don't have access to a high speed mail sorting system...you are comparing apples and oranges there.0 -
Sorry I didn't read every page, but from your OP you are saying the vouchers have been stolen from the envelope?
If there is evidence of theft have you tried to report to the police?0 -
I have reported it to Royal Mail who apparently have there own internal 'police force'
OP0 -
In the 40 plus years of receiving post that has not been sealed with tape, I can safely say that out of the thousands of pieces of mail I have received 0 of them have accidentally come open.
It is far more likely that the vouchers were stolen. This is based on the testimony of a postman (ex) who has informed us that Mail, that looks like it is valuable, is at risk of being opened and stolen by Royal Mail employees.0 -

If your theory is correct then the envelope as supplied by
Post Office ltd (branded post office Royal Mail) should withstand the machinery, I would have thought. clearly it didn't!!0 -

That is the accusation, but there is zero evidence to support it. Plus the vouchers have now thankfully been replaced no no actual losses have been incurred.0 -

You're missing the point. I can't explain what happened any more than you can, because neither of us know what happened.
There are a number of possibilities which could explan what happened here, but out of all the scenarios your accusations are the least likely to have actually happened.
I doubt very much that you will ever find out what actually happened as it would be very difficult to pinpoint. Several million items are posted every single day and the vast majority of them are sent using untracked services, the same as yours was.0 -

I haven't put forward any theory at all.0 -

and I have handled more than you will ever receive. Many poorly or unsealed.0
