To be honest I didnt think! Usually I would have a card saying unable to deliver etc.. and I would have gone to the PO.

With having no card I presumed that it just had not arrived yet/been delayed etc... When I realised I called RM with the tracking no.

    And what did they say?

Why wait almost a week with my parcel before messaging me?

My post is asking for advice and help on my rights re my parcel, not whether my neighbour did a good deed.

Again who knows why she waited a week- perhaps she doesn't have full access to a computer- perhaps she forgot- perhaps she was ill.

As you seemed to be complaining how this neighbour inconvenienced you- I thought it only right to point out that perhaps you are part of the problem that you are complaining about.

There are many people who, in this scenario , could have stolen it quite easily, and if questioned could have said the bin had been emptied- too late.

The fact she made efforts to keep the parcel safe , and took it to somewhere secure, and you are still ungrateful -and still suspect she was stealing it speaks volumes. If she was going to steal it- she wouldn't have contacted you at all!!!!

A card saying we have left it in a bin 3 doors down?

That really is awful customer service.
The postie who did that really needs reprimanding.

OP just go to the PO tomorrow or phone them, they may still have your parcel.
Forget about the neighbour, as another poster has said, she actually did you a favour!

I contacted them when I realised that the parcel had been signed for and delivered... but before I knew about my neighbour and the posty leaving it in the bin.

They advised me that they would look into it. I am going to call them back on monday to let them know about the bin.

I am just not sure if that is what RM are allowed to do? Is it acceptable?

Before I had managed to speak to her I think I had every right to presume that someone had taken it.

Someone has signed for the parcel forging my signature and using my surname!

I am not suggesting that she stole it after hearing the full story, however before I knew about posty leaving it in the bin I did have suspicions.

As I said previously. I am thankful that she took it to the post office, I just wish that she had knocked on my door, thats all.

There's a difference between assuming " someone" took it, and assuming it must be the neighbour who tried to help you.

You only said you were thankful she took it out of the bin , much further down the thread , after complaining about her actions.

"Knocking on my door may have been easier for all involved, however I am thankful she didnt just leave it in the bin."

Well clearly it may have been easier for you, but clearly for reasons we can't quite determine... It wasn't easier for her..

    Yes "Who knows"

Do you have any advice re getting my parcel, and RM leaving it in the bin? As previously stated I need to forget about the neighbour issue and get my parcel back!

  • Maybe she did knock on your door and you were out -as you were when the parcel was originally delivered. RM will be doing an investigation into the missing parcel now- they probably will not know to look on their shelves (awaiting customer collection). Pop in tomorrow. I always find my local sorting office very helpful.
