Please help - had received a part offer from Barclays and HSBC - sent acceptance back on Wednesday, they should have received it yesterday (26th July). Will I get my money as they had already made the offer or can they get out of it after todays news?
Many thanks

Banjaxt,
'fraid so, the ombudsman will only deal with other parts of a complaint (ie. non-compliance to SAR etc) until the findings, all "unfair charges" items are on hold! my complaint is with them ,too........ lyn xx0 -

Can you tell me where you got this information?
I can't find anywhere where it specifically states that this also applies to complaints about credit card charges.0 -
Banjaxt,
so sorry, didn't see your header (too angry!!) I think credit card claims are ok. Sorry again... lyn xx0 -

It's not your fault. I actually started my post as a dedicated thread, but some mod, in their infinite 'wisdom', decided to merge it into this thread, which seems a bit silly to me, seeing as this question has been asked by several people in this thread, with no answer forthcoming. After all, this is something that may affect a great deal of us credit card claimants too, so it would be nice to know where we stand.
Personally, I can't see how this suspension of dealing with complaints by the Financial Ombudsman Service can extend to credit card charges complaints too, as the test court case brought by the OFT will have no bearing on those cases, and the credit card charges were already deemed to be unlawfully high... but what do I know?
I've also got bank charges to reclaim, so I'll lose out there too, because I can't help but feel that this test case is going to be one big stitch up at our expense.0 -
Hey
I have my court date set for October and yesterday I wrote a cheque for the court for further £100 (total £250 now). Shall I see if court cases are still proceeding or cancel the cheque incase it gets cashed and then the case put on hold. Legally I dont know where i stand?

Banjaxt,
I think so too. By totally ignoring me since feb (apart from computer-generated letters etc), Abbey have delayed me even getting my charges information from them. Will they be held accountable for disregarding the 40 day ruling? I doubt it. By doing this, they have effectively prevented me from even starting a claim!!!
On top of that, they have "lost" money I left in my account when I moved to France 18 months ago, they even lost my change of address form!!
Rant!Rant! Rant!!!!
