    Hello, I'm new here!

I bought one of those sealed tubs that you open with a tin opener for 99p at the end of January. Since then I have been keeping my notes and large coins (50p/£1/£2) in my purse, but putting all other coins in my pot at the end of the day.

I've never really had much money when it comes to Christmas, this year was a first and was still a struggle. So this year I plan to do two things - I'm going to keep an eye on special offers in case something I want to buy as a christmas gift comes on sale at a great price and also to try and save £200 to spend on Christmas presents.

Anything I buy on sale as a Christmas gift (that would have come from the pot) I will put the price on here so I remember to count that towards it. So say I only save £150 but I had already purchased £50 worth of Christmas gifts I can put that down at the end if that makes sense?

I'm rambling now, good luck everyone! x

It seemed like ages since I have dropped by,but when I spent last night catching up on the thread (10 days of it ),I realised it isn't as long as I thought.I hope everyone is keeping well.Hugs to all who need them hugs.gif.

The car was finally scraped of the road outside our house this week. The value of the houses on our street has been restored :rotfl:,though the council needs to come out and resurface a couple of metres of road!
We still haven't got a replacement car,but I think things will start to happen once the insurance company assesses the car and determines whether or not it is salvageable (with the 2 front tyres melted to the tarmac,no front bonnet,no windscreen, driver's window or passenger window, and the radiator completely gone icon_rolleyes.gif.Nothing a spanner and a few pieces of blu-tac can't fix,hey?:rotfl::rotfl:).

Decorating is STILLLLLLLLLLLLL happening.Buddy hell, never again!!!Still,it has been a good excuse to declutter,so that can only be for the good.

    This afternoon I potted £14.92,including a £5 note,a £2 coin,and 3 £1 coins.My "50p and less" tin is very heavy,and getting very close to the top.

little_sweetie - hope you sleep better tonight, but I know where you are coming from. I've been up at "Helen O'clock" quite a few times this year. What is going on??
If you have a Lidl near you, check out those 49p (200g) bars of chocolate on offer (half-price ends tomorrow). The fruit and nut is delicious and I've been told it's virtually calorie free if you eat it slowly. :p

Thanks, Lynsey, I have actually had two good night's sleep so feel much better. It's really weird how you can suddenly wake in the early hours, isn't it. Strange....
BTW those calorie free chocolate bars sound right up my street! :):)

I didn't go anywhere at the weekend so a load of (uncounted) bits of change have been potted. I need to up my game a bit....

Have a lovely day everyone x

I don't know what happened to the post I wrote last night - but here it is again with a further update.

I was left at the end of the week with £10 which I was going to pot. However, with £10 from this week's money (which I have just got out of the bank) I have put £20 into one of my birthday envelopes. This means that I have now all the birthdays covered up to July and it's still only February. If it continues like this, I should be able to cover all birthdays and Christmas by the end of August by my reckoning.

In November when I open my pot I am hoping to have enough money in there to fill up all my birthday and Christmas envelopes for 2016.

    - NotNormal - please note that instead of giving you the following No on the list I've given you No 088 I'm sure that member would have returned by now, and if she does, invent a new one. ;)BTW, you make perfect sense with all you've got planned your Christmas present spends, keep on the lookout!!

A lovely shiny gold star to you, scotmumof3, for a super welcome. Many thanks. Thanks also for the Parsnip Soup recipe, it sounds delicious, though oh I do feel awful for your poor DH, in a roundabout way!!

Good for you, Jojo, that's the attitude...if you ain't got it..invent it!!

    Well done you also, Chutney.

Perhaps you'll feel better when spring comes along, Helen, or when you've heard more from the Hospital. £17 in your pot???? That's just amazing, keep it up and you'll be taking us ALL to Paris!!!!

Oooooooh I could throttle you, Lynsey!!!!!! I read all that out to DH and even though I was a bit disappointed at the offer having gone I was still looking forward to it being virtually calorie free!! Then I re-read it and saw the rest!! :( I shan't be having any...after all I'd hate to ruin my hourglass figure. :happyloveMy DH loves cooking, and makes delicious vegetable soup, delicious stews too.

That was a lucky free trip, Rosy!! I bet it doesn't happen to buses often.

I'm glad you enjoyed the play, Modesty, well done on the roadkill too! How's your DD getting on?

A lovely amount saved, Frogletina, sounds like you're doing well so far..... Good luck with all your future planning ideas coming to fruition, sounds really good.

.....you too, 32b3, and congratulations to your Nephew!!!! Eating too many sweets is productive??!!

Nice work with your DH, JoJo! :D

    Well done, Donna.
Sue - Have been keeping a tally of road change being found. Last year I found £8.21. This year so far £1.89 found.

Kerry, that's excellent picking up, especially as it's all cash!!! :j Keep those eyes down..well not all the time, but you understand me.
    Hiya all
#044 checking in with a little 45p potted, slowly but surely I will get to that £100.
    Big thanks to all. Xxxx

I'm sure you'll get there, dreamingofmoney, stay focused. BTW, please could you pop your No on your signature for me? Just in case you're unsure how to, the instructions are above to NotNormal.

Fantastic play by your DS, AlwaysHappy, congratulations to him please!!! :T
Thanks Sue, looking forward to payday now so I can set my budget in motion. I used to get eyebrows dyed and waxed but costing too much so cut down to just waxing!

3 weeks tomorrow until baby three is due so spending this week packing a bag, washing baby clothes and generally getting house sorted!

It may sound a daft question, chasingthedream, but I'll ask it anyway; how did you dye your eyebrows if they'd been waxed???! BTW, I'm getting so excited for you with your darling bundle of joy set to arrive soon. :A Hang onto that time as it all flies by so quickly. Oooh how I envy you. :(

Stay determined, Woodster, and be sure to budget well....then pot what you save from your budget! ;)

Managed to walk past Cafe Nero without going in, so I've potted the £2 which I saved. Got home and had a coffee instead.

Brilliant resolve, Vicky, you should be so proud of yourself!! Better in your pot than their till any day!! :T

You really do make me giggle at times, Saver-upper. It's good to hear the car's finally gone, though good luck with the spanner and a few pieces of blu-tac. :rotfl:With that sort of recipe you could make your own.... NO!!!!! I was only joking, honest!!!! (Oh Lord, what will she do next.)

It's really lovely to see your name here more often, little_sweetie, how about keeping it up? Is that a yes?!!! :D

    Well done you, mcjordi.

I hope you all had a really lovely weekend, SPCers, what a beautiful day it was yesterday, we had the most gorgeous walk with the family and thoroughly enjoyed it. We also had a very good and productive morning. Now today our DD's hubby and kiddies..are all down with a sickness bug that DD had last week! Try and stay free from bugs all.

Enjoy the rest of your Monday, folks! :j Keep safe, healthy and saving hard!!
