I have a newbie question too, if it's possible for a seasoned potter to clarify? In the rules it says this: "Likewise any money put directly into the bank cannot be counted as savings with SPC." My wages go into my bank, and I'm hoping to start a routine where, the day before payday, I withdraw whatever's left in my account (since if I haven't spent it, I don't need it) and put it into my sealed pot. Would this break the rules?

    - please note that instead of giving you the following No on the list I've given you No 080 I'm sure that member would have returned by now, and if she does, I'll give her a new one. ;)

Mrsnsl - please note that instead of giving you the following No on the list I've given you No 086 I'm sure that member would have returned by now. Still, if she does, I'll give her a new one. ;) You may be new to MSE but you're doing everything just right! If you should need any help, please just holler! BTW, I'll be sure to make the bank part clearer in my 1st post especially as so many folk have their wages paid straight in, thanks for the memory jog.

Thanks so much for great welcomes and explanations, Modesty and jakes-mum, here's another gold star for you both. :staradmin :staradmin As you know I don't normally give stars for double welcomes to the same person, but you were both so explicit with your answers - how could I not!! A gold star for you too, Frogletina, just also nudge members in the direction of the 1st post on page 1, thanks a lot. :staradmin ...and one for you too, Lynne, and don't worry about double postings. :staradmin

Good work with that £5er, Donna! :D

    Excellent saving, scotmumof3!! :j

won £25 in the lotto!!! This isn't something I do as a rule, and I'm so pleased I did. Put it all in the pot as my twin has trained me well, haven't you Sue-uu ! :D

A brilliant bit of good fortune with that £25 win, Caz!! :T I'm so pleased you took notice of your twin and potted it straight away! You did yourself proud. Good to hear Rosie's really enjoying the frost, our Jessie loves rolling in the snow, but as there isn't any then frosty fields come in very handy. Our chickens have also begun to lay now and it's egg sandwiches for lunch...delicious! I've never heard of an arthritic slug before, but the imagination's seeing you slithering across fields just fine, though the slimy trail you're leaving....YUK!! :(

Bad luck on the £78 repair bill, Modesty, but at least it makes you safer. ;)

You're viewing SPC saving in exactly the right way, jimmy*c, as it's making you think twice about spending - perfect!! Don't worry, declaration day will come soon enough, for now lap up the potting!

I did go out to lunch with a friend today (£6.05) - I'm finding I'm eating out less since starting my sealed pot

It's good to hear you also are thinking twice about giving cash to others and deciding to do your own lunches, Frogletina! :j

Ok Daddybear85, I've set your Target up for you, good luck in getting there - or over it!!

Hi there Helen! It's so good to hear it's all over and you're now feeling so much better. Make sure you thoroughly enjoy your Birthday meal tonight. Well done with potting too! :D

You're doing so well, Kerry, a great sum potted....

    ....you too, 32b3.

How wonderfully astute you are, Lynsey, and always keen to pass your sightings onto us all too! Thanks a lot and have a gold star for being so thoughtful. :staradmin Good luck with your frugal weeks.

Have yourselves a wonderful weekend, Savers! Stay safe, healthy and...saving!!

Did my shopping at the market today never done that before other then a few bits but it's amazing how much you can get for your money. Got enough food for at least 2 weeks other then a few essential top ups and it cost less than a weeks shopping normally would. Also managed to pot £3.20 :-)

31p potted today. I was given a 3 pounds off 10 pounds voucher at my local Morr*sons so I used it today and got £12.17 worth of grocery for £9.17. Got some plastic bowls for storing food from Mr P (i seem to have lost all the ones I had previously) and finally got some reduced pineapples for about 1.30 which brought my weekly shopping to just under 12 pounds. Really pleased with that. Roll on Pay Day!!!! :)

Thank you for my first gold star Sue, I am usually up quite late so it's nice to be able to say welcome to any newbies at that hour. In future I will also remember to direct them the first post.

Hi everyone hope you are all well :)
I have potted £1.86 between yesterday and today . The pot is filling up very nicely :)
Made Leek and Mushroom soup for lunch today it's one of my faves here is the recipe
Melt 1oz of butter in a large pan and add 2 leeks thinly sliced and 8oz of sliced mushrooms and fry gently for 5 mins.
Add 1 pint of milk , 2 crumbled vegetable stock cubes and 1/2 pint of cold water .Add 1 tbsp of soy sauce and 3 bay leaves bring to the boil and simmer for 20 mins. Blend 1 tbsp cornflour with 2 tbsps of cold water and stir into the soup. Season and cook for 2-3 mins. Remove the bay leaves and serve.
DH likes this even more than potato and leek.
Debt free as of 29.10.2020 🎉😁

    Evening all my lovelies! :)

Got a £2 coin in my change today so potted it, along with a little bit of shrapnel. I'm potting the odd bit of change but I don't think my total will be much this time round, still anything is better than nothing! ;)
