Hiya everyone and a warm welcome to the newbies :hello:DreamerHelen wrote: »BUT...NO MORE wallowing today....Today I AM going to be strong and remember what I said before - There is nothing to worry about until there is something to worry about!!
My thoughts are with you
Frogletina wrote: »I've joined first direct and should be getting £100 soon for switching one of my accounts - is it acceptable to pot that?
Sue-UU - thanks a million for my shiny new star :j
My poor pot looks a bit battered from being untapped again but I was not sympathetic and have taped it up again - the money for a new pot has gone into the old one :rotfl: Who is calling me a miser ???
So today was
£5 note found in my pocket from last time went for a drink (it was waiting to be found)
£2 which I didn't spend on a new pot
£2 which I forgot to spend on a lottery ticket today
So total of £9 :T
BTW - I just throw everything in the one pot and count/bank when full. It's strange when it's nearly empty eh and putting in a note is a very weird sensation - :shhh:
Hope you all have a super Sunday

You've every right to be feeling righteous, Meowhouse, you made 2 great decisions today. Taking your own lunch and potting money NOT spent on lunches is a splendid way to save loads!
Then you went one better again and saw ££££ signs rather then a McD!!!!!! :T There often many excellent ways to save - if we only stop and think about it; egged on by your great Total this year you've done just that and it'll pay BIG by the end of the year!! Brilliant work!!!!! :j

I've not got a sealed tin yet.
I have some cash back money in one of my accounts that I haven't allocated anywhere yet even though some goes back to before this challenge, should I still add it? Usually I just add it to the next month's housekeeping money.
frogletina
Hi frogletina. There's no reason at all not to pot the £100 gained by the switch, it's a reward anyway, so by all means do so.
Have a look at the suggestions on the 1st post for ways to help make/use as a sealed pot. Then give hunts for a better one for Christmas if you wish.
Yes, cashback money can be potted. Any other queries you have, just ask or have a look at the 1st post. Best wishes on doing well.Ok I already have pots sort of started but I've never done the challenge before so I hope this is ok - i have £££ shop tin where I put £2 coins - this is still quite light but I've got no idea how much is in there, we were saving towards the solicitor fees for when we sell our house next year so will just leave that as it is and continue to add to it. I've got a coffee jar with copper and 5p's in (all the decent coins get used for bus fare/car parking. Thinking of getting a £££ shop tin for my 5 ps and any other sneaky silver I can put in and keep the coffee jar for the copper. Does anyone change there copper into silver or £ to add to another pot? We always have tons of the stuff!
Oh and where does everyone get the money bags from to take to the bank? can you still just go in and ask for them?
By all means change copper for silver or £2s or £1s, Tink, and the money bags can be got at any bank, just ask. The one thing about SPC is that you get to save the way you wish, think it all out and you'll do well, I'm quite sure!
Naughty you, jakes-mum, you really didn't ought to be telling the world why LC 2 keeps moving, her poor DH will get wind of it soon, you'll see! A good idea re Lily to let the Dr see it and notify the school of his findings. Great going with the £50!!

I'm darn well holding you to that, sexyshark, sounds as though you too are planning ahead and not wanting to be tempted. Good for you!!lynnejk wrote:My poor pot looks a bit battered from being untapped again but I was not sympathetic and have taped it up again - the money for a new pot has gone into the old one :rotfl: Who is calling me a miser ???
A miser, you, Lynne?!! You my friend are very astute, you're an SPCer through and through!! I'd far sooner put money IN the pot than waste it on another pot.Goodnight everyone, have a good sleep and a lovely Sunday!Sue x

Morning All!! Welcome to all the joiners, wow, aren't we going to be a great bunch this year? Enjoy the banter!! I've only been here a year but at times the camaraderie and support on here from "friends" has helped me get through certain low points, and then, I also get to share the highs of my own, and everyone else's life - its GREAT!!
On a potting note, a good start - £3.80 for the pot of which £1.80 was in 20p's so the pot doesn't sound quite so empty now. Was tempted yesterday by an extra pot in the £ shop, but held firm. May give in when this one is full, or may pot the money and recycle!! Happy Sunday xxI'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!0 -
Happy new challenge everyone! I've a purse full of shiny coins but no new pot yet hopefully I'll get one sorted today so the great potting adventure for 2015 can commence!
