  • :hello: Hello potters!

Well i've been staying with my folks for the last week and will probably stay here until the first or possibly the second week in Jan. It's been so nice to be looked after, it's given my the chance to really relax and rest. I hope to be able to go back to work again in Feb but I really need to ensure i'm fully recovered first as I do a very stressful and at times physical job.

For Christmas I bought my mum a beautiful ceramic money pot shaped like a hippo (she collects hippo's) its got its mouth wide open and the slot is in the middle of its mouth! This has meant that some of my change has ended up in there instead of waiting till I get home to go in mine!

Dreamer Helen- you sound like you have been having a lot of the same symptoms I had- but for different reasons...I can really empathise with how cruddy they make you feel, not to mention the inconvenience. I hope you are soon all fixed up and feeling much better xxx

Everyone seems to be making so much great potting progress well done!

    Merry x

    Afternoon all.

Result today - swapped a £10 note for 5 x £2 coins and potted the lot!!
Couldn't bear to see those £2 coins being spent. lol
I'm not spending much on food at the moment as freezers and cupboards well stocked. Should get me through to the back end of February (at least), so a frugal couple of months ahead. Extra savings for the pot will be the advantage.

2 x £2 coins in the £2 coin tin and just over a £1 in shrapnel in the small tin. Took DS and DD out shopping again yesterday and it was DS's turn for a bit of spoiling. Was a tad put out that I managed to completely kit out DD for £80, DS's £80 got him 1 tshirt and 2 hoodies   darn him and his hollister/superdry/Vans fetishes :rotfl:

Don't think i'll need to buy any food other than the essentials for a while as I got 5 packs of sausages for 51p a pack so we will be having sausage everything for the forseable future :D plus I have many of the ever so dangerous chicken portions in the freezer too!

Now I am thinking that due to the christmas/new year period my cleaning lady is having a 3 week break between cleans instead of 2 so should I pot the £10 (half of her cost) that I have theoretically saved

It's good to hear you're enjoying yourself, Merry, and as you're recuperating, your Mum's probably really enjoying looking after you and playing the full role of Mum again. You get well properly and recover properly. Just don't put too much cash in her hippo!! Well, have you seen the rate at which they eat?!!

It doesn't matter if saving is irregular, milky, so long as you keep saving that's all that matters. Though I should hope your pot is unopened..after all it's sealed isn't it!!!

Helen, please don't worry, and yes, of course you're forgiven! :kisses3: We just need to consider all, that's all. No doubt some of your feeling better is relief with the Dr taking proper notice of you. Please though, Helen, be sure to have something to eat at each meal time, even if it's something light, it's vital for us all for well-being - you included! :naughty:

That's much more like it, Lynsey! :j ...and frugal is always a good word to hear too.

Ahh...another member with plenty in the cupboards and freezer then, Mrs Cheshire, frugal living ahead for you too then. Look out pot, you're going to be living well!!

I'm so pleased to hear you've enjoyed a lovely Christmas, Kerry, your Mum too. New Year ahead now! :D

Just got you, jakes-mum, and the answer to your question is YES!!!!!

A very Happy, safe & healthy New Year to all our Potters! If you're traveling, go careful - PLEASE!

Evening potters! (See, I'm picking up the lingo ;)) Had a lovely day again today over here in Wales. Today myself and DH had a run/jog/walk around a local lake that has finally had the path all the way around it completed. Just over 8 miles in total but DH was very patient as I run/jog/walk slower than he does. Saw a lady and her dog and hubby going round - she was on a quad bike! Path is a bit too steep and uneven in places for a wheelchair so well done her. Makes me count my blessings when I am able to run past people who have mobility problems. I shouted a cheery hello as I went past. Her dog, a sheepdog, was hiding in the long grass waiting for her, probably going to round her up like a sheep. :rotfl:

Had the best coffee in a while from a flask DH had made up before we set off. I was getting chilly and it was hot and steamy. Mmmmmm.

Had a ride into Porthmadog this afternoon and had a look in the sales. Not much to tempt me there, shopping is pretty poor tbh but it was nice to have a look around. The shop hat sells terramundis was closed so I didn't spend anything. We did peep into the Purple Moose brewery shop and picked up half a dozen bottles of local ales. They make one with elderflowers, Ysgawyn I think it is called. Absolutely delicious!

Been having a lovely time so we have decided to stay another night and go home in the morning. Picked up something for tea in Ald! Well, we'll need something to soak up the beer!

Anyway, found a bit of change in my purse to pot again today.
