  • First DS, 05:45am, thought I had the trots...for two hours, then cottoned on that I had to make that trip to the loo every 10 mins. Took a risk and didn't 'go' and realised I was in labour. DS born in hospital 6.5 hours after first toilet moment.

Second DS, 10:00pm went to the loo (there is a theme), discovered had a show (one week early), but no contractions. Tootled off to hospital at their request, via petrol station, where the assistant wanted to chat the night shift away. Arrived at 10:45pm, into delivery room at 11:35pm. DS born at 11:38pm with the Midwife still trying to get her gloves on.

At home as planned as I was determined to have a home birth. Started Saturday evening and ended up with blues and twos and an emergency C-section on the Tuesday morning!

Eleven and a half years after DD's birth I can still recall the noise of my waters going "bang" and the subsequent tidal wave, just like it happened yesterday! Thankfully I was in a hospital bed, at about 5am, a week overdue, having gone in at about 3am with pains, followed by a rather forceful examination (I still blame that midwife for the subsequent explosion!). I was waiting for the doctors to do their rounds before going home. Labour pains started straight away and were excruciating. DD was born by C-section at 11.30pm that night after I was made to suffer all day!

With DS I got up to go to the toilet, again about 3am, only this time on Christmas morning and it was five weeks before he was due. When I went back to bed I felt like I'd wet myself or still needed the toilet but it was my waters trickling. Into hosptial, another day of agony before he was born by c-section at 12.30am on boxing day. Something of a surprise, I hadn't even finished work and my friends thought I was having a laugh when I was texting them telling them I was on my way into hospital on Christmas morning!

And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end
  • First, waters broke at midnight after watching Skins (38 weeks), DH was in bed and it took a good half hour to get him out of bed! Labour didn't start fully and had DD about 72 hours later (after induction). Awful!!

Second time was booked in for a caesarean as was overdue and could face an induction again. Due to get to the hospital for 7am, at midnight I started getting a bit of back ache (again another 30 mins to convince DH to get up), just about made it to the hospital and by 2.30am had DS. The birthing centre took great pleasure in cancelling the c section! I was home in time to get the online shopping and cook Christmas lunch!!!!
  • First baby? Waters broke at home (talk about fill yer boots! I did.) Delivered in hospital.
Second, waters trickled at home, delivered in hospital.
Third just so comfortable the midwife ruptured the membranes 16 days overdue (chemistry not working) & delivered in hospital.
Smashing woman. When she retired, I took the hint!
(On meds which require a paediatrician to check the baby on delivery - all home births etc therefore off the menu.)

1st - waters broke at 5am - on the day i was to fly to mainland to be induced! so i had a quick trip on ambulance plane! then a 20 hour labour!

2nd - was shopping in main village - started to have really strong pains - went to cottage hospital- was declared in labour - a 2nd trip on ambulance plane! got to hospital on mainland and all stopped - so spent 2 days there until induced

3rd - was 2 weeks overdue - this time got to fly out on service plane - was induced and gave birth to a rather overcooked dd - she looked like had been in the bath too long :rotfl:

  • With DD waters broke getting out the bath at home, first labour pain was around 8 hours later at 2am and she was born in hospital at 9.40 that morning.

With DS waters broke at 3am on way to the loo whist at home. First labour pain was 4pm the following day. He was born at 5.30 that evening in hospital, within minutes of arriving.

The journey to the hospital was a little fraught looking back. DH spent most of it yelling at me to stop pushing! Like we have a choice in the matter....
  • My waters broke whilst I was out walking the dog in the local country park- thankfully with a bit of a trickle rather than a gush!
Nothing much else happened so I was induced and my son was born 37 hours after the initial leak.
  • With my eldest, I went into labour naturally one Saturday evening at home. I felt fine all day, then started feeling uncomfortable late afternoon. Weak, regular contractions started around 10pm, and my daughter was born Monday morning.

I was induced with my second and third at the hospital.
