I was at home when contractions started, after a few hours went to the hospital but got sent home with painkillers, this happened twice more over a four day period (yay for prodromal labor lol) on the fifth day they were worse but somehow managed to walk down to the shops and pick up a few things at around 4pm, at 5pm they finally admitted me to L&D where I chilled in the birthing pool until about 8:30pm, they popped my waters and at 8:54pm my little girl was born :)

I went into labour at home with both my born babies. With my son I made it to hospital and had him in a birthing pool, but with my daughter I had a few contractions then started being sick, had a big contraction and realised I was pushing then felt her head popping out!

I had her on my kitchen floor, still in her birth sac, it took 18 minutes from feeling her coming out to her actually being born!

The first time was in bed - woke at 2.10am needing a wee and as I sat up I heard a 'pop' and waters came. Had to claim on house insurance for new carpet after that!

Second time I was driving home from supermarket and waters broke as I drover over a speed hump.

I didn't..induced the first time and planned C-sections the second and third time. I was with my sister when her waters broke in the cake shop. She was mortified but all the customers clapped.Days gone by.

I went into labour 6 days early, it was early morning and I was on my own at home, my husband had left for work and we had no phone. It was rather scary, and I was just 17.

I called at a neighbour's flat for help and the only person there was her son who was in his teens who I persuaded to go to the nearest phone box and ring for an ambulance.

He came back to say the phone was not working. I asked him to call at another flat and the woman there went to the nearest shop and used their phone.

It was February and there was a lot of snow around. On the way to the hospital I was informed by one of the ambulance men that one of the ambulances got stuck in snow that morning

I gave birth 40 minutes after arriving at the hospital.

Wow, lots of people here having their waters break at the start of labour!

I woke up at home with mild pains, went out to a couple of shops, walked around late afternoon, full blown contractions began late in the evening, went to hospital at 1am but sent home as only 2cm, howled in pain for a few hours and had my waters break while on the loo, go back to hospital and find I'm 9cm, give birth early morning.
Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!

jeez - some of the earliest post are scary!
first child - pains started at home but 15 mins apart for a day and night! OH took me into hospital and they did admit me to labour ward at about 10.am told OH to go home. he did and went off to rugby match and my mum had to go find him to tell him I was in labour and to get there quick. DD born at 6.20pm
second child - I had been having backache so had a nice hour long bath and went to bed and sleep .....................woke up having huge pain at about 7.00. realised I was in labour and it was chaos! OH took DD up my mums then came back and got me and just as we got out the street the baffler came off the exhaust! so we 'blatted' our way to the hospital - got stopped by the cops , and my waters broke then, they wished us luck and sent us on - and then we remembered we hadn't phoned them to tell them we were coming in...............too late. baby was coming. we got there and baby was born 20 minutes later! at 8.10
third baby - I kept saying I wasn't sure on dates - but they insisted on inducing him. he was small, and covered in vernix - the midwife said 'bloody idiots - this baby is a month early'. and he has had health problems all his life.

At home both times x With DD I was 36 weeks and I woke feeling a bit unwell with a case of the runs, by lunchtime my contractions started, really horrible pains right through my back and she was born at 17.17pm that day. Just over 5 hours from contractions starting.

DS was 39+4 and I woke around 2am because I thought I'd wet myself but it must have been my waters starting to go, had back ache so had a bath. Contractions started about 5am and eventually woke OH at 5.30 who was supposed to be going to an important meeting that day for work. Contractions started quite full on from the start, so loaded DD into the car and headed for nana's and then the hospital. Arrived at hospital at 7am, examined and straight into the pool and DS was born at 7.50 am
