Win 7/forgotten password

Well I've now downloaded Offline NT Password and Registry Editor and burnt it to a CD, gone into the BIOS and changed it to boot from the CD, but still no joy! When it starts up with the CD in the drive, it whirrs away like mad, slows, then goes again, but if I don't press f2 or f8, it still goes to the login screen, asking for a password!!
And I couldn't get that last bit to stop underlining, only when I went to a new paragraph!!!!

You download the .zip file and then extract it (<right click> <extract>). This gives you a .iso file.
You then burn this 'as an image' to the CD ... then it will boot.
I use the free CDBurnerXP with the option 'Burn ISO image'.
I keep a copy in my bag ... it's so useful!0 -
I don't see how post #22 could be any clearer.
If even THAT is beyond you then it's time to get someone else (locally) to help you.0 -
Missing the onscreen prompt. Press any key to boot from CD?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Thanks folks for all your help, finally managed to download the necessary to a CD, put it into the drive, and hey presto, a load of stuff immediately appeared on the screen.
Worked my way through it and it appeared to work, then............DISASTER!! Got up from my desk where I was working, a location where I wouldn't usually be using a laptop, tripped over the mains cable which brought the laptop crashing to the floor!!!
Now when I switch the laptop on, the drive clicks for a while, but when I go into the BIOS, the HD isn't showing.
So.........having missed Black Friday, the hunt is now on for a replacement laptop, and I just hope that I can get the stuff off the HD, although most of her important stuff is on her pc.
Happy days!!David.0 -

Why not just put a new HDD in the laptop?
What are the brand name and model details?0 -

Yep, I suppose I could do that, although that's maybe getting a wee bit technical for me! lol And I don't have a Windows disc to put it onto the new HDD, although if it was just a matter of taking off a few wires then putting them onto a new drive, that shouldn't be too difficult.
It's a Toshiba C660-220, and the Win7 product key sticker is still on the underside, and readable.
Thinking ahead, will it be a SATA disc that's in it? I see there's someone doing a SATA enclosure/case for just £5 or £6, which would be useful if I tried to get the stuff off it myself.David.0 -
No need to play with any wires at all. The HDD section should be modular. Perhaps in a mini cage that you pull out, take the HDD out of the mini cage, slot a new one in and then slot the mini cage back in to the laptop. That's it. no wires or complicated scenarios.

I can point you towards a link for the Toshiba recovery disc.
If it's 'clicking', you might not get anything off the HDD at all.0
