People will sell any old crap on FB - a lady was selling some "dulux cristmas hampers" (her spelling), which were nothing more than £3 worth of chocolates from PoundLand in a 2nd hand dog-chewed wicker basket with some badly tied ribbon and she was asking £15.

All the Tracey's, Stacies and Stevie-Lee type people went mad for them. It even interested the ones who work at: Full Time Mummy.

Then there are the Tracey's and Stacie's who sell Reindeer dust for a quid.. (!) Which is just a 12kg sack of wild bird seed (£3.99 @ B&M) split down into 15g pouches tied with a used hair bobble.

    Were they painted?;)

Years ago I knew someone selling hampers, they had a list of all that was inside, some lovely branded tins on the top and a load of out of date unbranded 'stuff' on the bottom. I didn't know that racket was still about.

My local FB page is great for selling things, although it depends on the time you list it. I have had stuff collected within 20 mins of listing, paying cash...

If someone is a no show, they need reporting to the group admin, as if they get two complains on our local FB group, they get blocked.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I did very well when I first tried it, but more recently I just get endless no shows.

I also got banned from a couple of selling sites for warning about scams, apparently even on a site with 13,000 users we are all 'mates here' and suggesting that someone selling genuine Rayban sunglasses, using a stock photo and wanting bank transfer in advance to fund his delivery from China is not a problem and I need to learn to take a chill pill and not see scams everywhere.

Left one selling site voluntarily a month or so ago when someone was trying to get rid of a litter of puppies , threatening to drown them if people didn't collect by the weekend. It was allegedly a joke, but not one I found funny.

I moderate my village FB site, over 1000 members - initially it was started to discuss village events etc but more and more used for people to sell their tat on, some of it I can barely bring myself to approve as it belongs in the skip - luckily those posts soon drop off the main page!

  • I haven't sold much on my local Facebook group, but managed to sell the occasional item and haven't had anyone mess me around yet. It's a big group and I think only friends'/ friends of friends' posts show up in members' newsfeeds, and I don't have many FB friends in the local area. I was lucky to join before they closed the group to new members, presumably to keep it manageable. If I'm looking to buy, stuff usually seems to fall into two categories - overpriced or already sold by the time I see the post. It's a general sales, wants and freebies group but pets for sale or free aren't allowed - there's another group for those, though lost and found pet posts are allowed in the main group for wider exposure.
  • This gem has just appeared in my news feed... and they want £20 for it!

Look at the state of the walls...

I joined a few groups and over all found it a complete waste of time.

Listed a phone in four different groups. Price was £230. Within ten minutes I had 6 offers ranging from £150 to £90. Obviously declined.

Then three people offered £200. I accepted first. Waited in for hours for them to collect only to get a 'sry 2 mess u abot' message. On to the next. Same thing. It's happened a total of four times now. The last telling me and I quote 'u shud av accepted cheper cos I fond 1 4 less'.

My favourite if when they make an offer. As above. Phone is listed for £230. Someone offers £150. I politely decline. The reply with '£150 and I'll collect within the hour'. As if that's somehow going to make me suddenly find an offer of less than half the asking acceptable.

Plus I can't deal with all the absolute idiots on there and those who are trying to sell cats and dogs. One women put up an album full of photos entitled 'everything needs gone'. With a picture of a table, some shoes, toys and.....a cat. As if it were some disposable throw away item. I was livid.

Needless to say I left all the groups after a few weeks.

Out of curiosity which groups do you use?

I've only tried the local ones.

What fone is it? tend to find people asking daft money for fones,i've seen people asking £200 for iphone 4s.
