Preparing for Winter V

I'm hoping all these reactions to flu jabs mean you will just shake off the real thing if it comes your way - your bodies will be practiced in defeating it.
For those still in the queue and not yet having had your jab, can I just say not everyone reacts? I had mine last week and apart from a (very slight) feeling of coming down with a cold, I've been fine. Not even a sore arm or a needle mark. I'm afraid I don't know why I've got off Scot-free, or I'd tell you all the secret. But it can happen.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

We had our flu jabs last week with no side effects other than a slight ache for a day or so.
Hubby had the covid jab, on Monday, and said his arm was hurting a bit for a while but nothing too bad.
Winter preps are in full swing in the garden. We're working on taking a huge fir tree down, a bit at a time. It has numerous trunks, so we're stripping the branches lower down as far as we can reach, then we'll see what we can safely do ourselves to reduce the height. If we need to get someone in, we will.2025 Fashion on the ration

I had my flu jab a couple of weeks ago. The lovely lady in our local pharmacy said she had only been doing them since last winter.
I didn't even feel the needle! She was that good!
It does help to completely relax your arm when the needle goes in. Not easy for some people but I just totally relax. I am sure it is worse if it goes into a tense muscle.
I don't think the flu vaccine is "live" so it could just be that you picked up a cold/virus at the same time. There are so many coughs, colds etc doing the round at the moment. I am sure they are worse since covid but that could just be because we kept away from people for a year or two so lost some resistance.
I hope everyone is keeping warm! Don't forget that a couple of candles can make a room feel much more cosy and warmer than it is, if it is safe for you to have them, ie kids/dogs etc!Putting these winter preps here so I don't forget!

I don’t react to flu jabs other than the aching arm. I read that if you exercise the arm a bit after the jab is reduces the ache. I don’t know if it’s real or a placebo but I like a good placebo anyway.6

We are on the waiting list for an appointment for Covid vaccinations at the GP surgery. I shall be wearing a mask for my hospital appointments even though they had removed free masks from the foyer last visit.5
