Thanks Fruball, I'll remember that, (maybe too well!

We've got snow. Hope everyone is safe and warm. I've been keeping an eye on the forecast and popped out for extra milk, bread and vegetables. So pleased I did, there's not much chance of me getting the car out tomorrow.

We have snow here in Liverpool, but its more sleet now so its getting washed away or turning to slush
It was lovely watching the neighbours kids running around and getting overly excited in it earlier. They'll be disappointed tomorrow

We have it here in Yorkshire too. It's settling at the moment, and we are just back from a family party so the kiddies have seen it (DS made footprints on the drive) - they won't be happy if it's all washed away by morning
I also got milk earlier. And I took spare pjs to my aunts just in case we got stuck there, but we got home ok. Good to know I had the essentials already in the car though.Bossymoo

It has been cold the past two nights here and I had to wear my new cheapie bed socks.:D I thought I saw a few snowflakes yesterday evening but it either turned to sleet or it was just rain. Blanket and hot water bottle weather at last.
The recycling was blown all over the street last night as there was a storm and everyone had put out their cardboard boxes from their Christmas presents ready to be collected. I have tried to clear up a bit outside this morning with my hair blowing all over the place but I'm not doing it for all my neighbours as it wasn't my stuff.:o:p
I think I will make a nice cup of cocoa later.:cool:HOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000

No snow!
Would have loved it for a day whilst we are all off, but never mind.
Freezing rain, windy and bitterly cold here, but no need to go anywhere.
Having a clean up this morning, tidy away & sort out, then relaxing with a new book after lunch, probably covered in a throw!
Keep safe everyone:beer::j0 -
Feeling very glad I prepped for winter as I am poorly with horrible virus and whole body hurts. Thankfully, my meds are well stocked and I have lots of very easy to prepare meals too
Happy New Year everybody!0 -
Ahhh, get well soon Fruball and anyone else who's feeling poorly. It is nice to think that everything's on hand isn't it? Although we did have a 'tense moment' the other night when I couldn't find the deicer that I knew I had placed in the boot. Helpful OH had taken the emergency bag out because 'it costs in extra fuel to carry all of that junk around' Sometimes I think this money saving thing is going too far...

So glad I follow this thread. Woke yesterday to the boiler throwing error messages. I couldn't get it working, I couldn't get hold of the landlord or gas service people who had left their number on the boiler, but eventually I managed (with permission) to get BG out. They only went & condemned the boiler  So we have no heat (fan heaters have been supplied but not used yet! I refuse to use them unless absolutely necessary) & no hot water except for kettles/pans. The boiler is in the process of being sorted but I have to wait until tomorrow when places open again to start kicking up a fuss over the problem.
So we closed all the blinds and curtains, and put spare blankets on the beds. We went to my parents so I could have a shower, and mum also fed us before dad gave us a lift home. We got in about 9.30 and went straight to bed in warmer pjs & socks. Woke up this morning to a 14C house, got dressed and had a hot breakfast then went outCame back, closed blinds & curtains again. Layered up, did some washing and put the TD on to dry it which warmed downstairs up, and cooked a pasta bake in the oven then left the oven door open so it also added to the heat downstairs.
DD has just washed her hair in cold water ready for school tomorrow (she's refusing to go to my parents for a shower lol) and will then be heading to bed. I'm going to head to bed as well.
Thanks to this thread I didn't panic, I'd thankfully kept all the old blankets from when we first moved in here and had no heating, and I know we'll be fine
Now I just need to try and get this boiler fixed as the problem is something that was done when it was installed in 2010 and its in my name not the landlords :eek:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
Up bright and early this morning as I really need to get my butt into gear and start to batten down the hatches for a spell of extremely windy weather which is incoming.
Loss of power looks to be a fair possibility for my location so am filling 5 litre water bottles and charging everything in sight!! Gas stoves etc at the ready and candles strategically placed around the house.
Just need to wait till light now to get out in the garden and make sure that all my pots etc are securely stowed away as these can become deadly missiles during a hoolie!:eek:0
