I was preaching to the converted then.
Good luck. No doubt you have an ear as finely tuned as mine to the sound of distant (or near;)) chainsaws..0 -
First snow on the hills this morning, so I guess the summer really is over!0

Aldi have got those heated electric throws in again. Has anyone used them? I'm not sure they'd be big enough to get covered up properly. https://www.aldi.co.uk/easy-home-heated-throw/p/086675235396500'Get Brexit done' is a lie[

The one I got from them about 3 years ago is huge, just measured it approx 130 x 160 cm I use it in my swivel chair, but longwise I think it would keep 2 cosy on a settee (sitting close together) HTH.
I have washed it as per the instructions and it came up lovely. Washed at start of summer and got out again a few weeks ago, so no chance of any damp in the plug socket thingy:eek:
ETA sorry had not looked at your link, the same I think, bit of a struggle on my own to measure it so may have been a bit optimistic, or they may have sized down a bit since I got mine. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
I've found some Ikea curtains on the top of my wardrobe so I'm going to take a look and see how many of those I have and what windows they'll fit.
I'll definitely some kind of fleece attachment with those though as they are only thin.
Little bit late with this one but don't forget ebay either. I've had velvet curtains from there at a fraction of what they should cost. Also with charity shops, they have different things in different areas, so there is an area near me where there are a lot of older age people, the charity shop near there [ and there is only one] has a very good selection of warmer items.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

Our buyer has a little treasure trove and many happy hours of processing went into it. We'll get some wood in this year, no alternative as we don't have the village contacts here yet but next year.....whole new ball game, scrounge on MrsL scrounge on !
Shuuush you're making me cringe all over again. Many things are left to never be spoken of ever again.did you come to any stove conclusions?

YES we're getting one as soon as we possibly can! The wood stove guy will send us some ideas for suitable models for our space and we'll drop down to the big showrooms and decide which we like and put in the order there and then. With luck we'll be up and working before Christmas!0

I got my flu jab on Monday so that's another thing ticked off the list!Sealed pot challenge 11: number 5940

Brilliant news Lyn.
The colds are going around my 3 family members. Touch wood I'm resisting so far. I have my flu jab on Friday so I hope to avoid it for a bit longer.
Any tips on transitioning children (10) to tablet paracetamol? She's tried half in porridge and tried just swallowing but she has a little freak out. She has to learn this skill so I'm not considering calpol anymore. She has said that she thinks the tablets with the plastic like coating will be better so I'm wondering if it might be a taste/texture thing rather than gag. Is there a brand name for paracetamol with a slow release shell? I can only find the tablets in my little town.
The other child person (14) has a muffled ear. I've bought ear wax softener but as I was paying olive oil came to mind. Have I got that right - olive oil for ear wax?
DH awoke to a pool of sweat, had to go in the bath before work. He's been fighting a virus for two days and had a cold leading up to it. I keep shoving oregano oil under his snout and a spoon full of elderberry via his mouth. Bless him he just goes with it. It's not because he does it to get well, it's because he's trying to pacify me in my panic of not wanting to fall ill.
So either I'm doing well with my immunity or I will be on my knees in a few days time. My bet is on the latter!0 -
What about those little caplet paracetamol Fuddle. They seem the easiest to swallow.
I had my flu jab last week as I work in a shop handling money all day long. It fascinates me how many people feel it’s acceptable to cough and sneeze without even attempting to cover their mouths these days. I was always taught coughs and sneezes spread diseases.
I’m holding off putting the winter duvet on yet. It’s not cold enough here. But we have started on the warming meals, stews, porridge etc. I was thoroughly fed up of salad.
Keep well guys
Cuddles
