FrankieM I think it is Wundaweb tape. Or you could just get a load of safety pins and pin the fleece on.

    Thanks :)

I'll see what I can find and may go with the safety pins cause then I can take it off over summer.

I've got a problem with the tyres on my car, I think it's a slow puncture. I'm taking it into the garage today cause I need to get that fixed for the winter.

I probably need to stock my car with wintery prep things too. So, I'll get a list together.

I also tried the heating last night, only because I wasn't sure the hot water was working. The rads upstairs work but the ones downstairs were stone cold so I need to ring the landlord.

I love the little house I'm renting but it needs some real tlc and I think the landlords view is 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' which is a real shame...
  • Fingers crossed so far not had the heating on just used thicker cardi and a blankey over my knees whilst watching tv. Hot drinks and perhaps a hot water bottle on my feet will help keep the heating off for another week or so :)

When I rented a similar place I got cheap fleece blankets and hung them behind the normal curtains using cheap plastic shower curtain rings. Just snipped little holes in the fleece to thread them and then snapped the rings onto the poles in between the proper curtain hooks iykwim.

Turned it off last night thinking it would be ok and had a cold toddler poking my rear at 4am... Let him into our bed to warm up and doze off again then put him back in his own bed properly tucked up. He only turned two three weeks ago and hasn't gotten the knack of pulling his duvet back over himself when he's half asleep poor thing.

Somebody has given me a huge butternut squash from their allotment. ( It was picked early to prevent nt them all being stolen for Halloween - how mean can people get?) so it needs to be ripened for a while yet. I'm putting it out to "sunbathe" on the patio every day but now bringing the poor thing every night in case it gets frosted.

My outdoor pepper plants are still full of ripening fruit tucked up against the house wall but I,m covering them over with a thick net curtain every evening when the sun goes down as the pots are too cumbersome to bring indoors every night.
  • Tomorrow I'm going to try and find the energy to put the garden to bed, and then I don't have to think about it until March.

Boiler has been serviced this evening and has a clean bill of health. Still going to try and hold out for as long as possible before switching on the heating.
