oh yes, my analogue phone, bought 6 years ago and I think in a drawer, must check. Nothing has changed here since ophelia, the three makita fully charged batteries are out on a trolley, the makita radio is still in the kitchen as is the small makita fluorescent lamp. Whoopie, the masonry garden wall is dry and I can set everything back against it later. Must have been tired though, full 9 hours sleep last night, warm and cosy, bedsocks and thin wool duvet with full length welsh wool blanket on top, would normally be too warm like this but the tiredness was making me cold
What will be will be wrt wind, I rest easy knowing that I have the full correct insurance for my non standard build home, including for all the PV panels etc. I cannot do any more prepping here0 -
Oh my god. Fudge. Oh wow; Oh drool ....0

Just to report, we are being battered with high winds and rain here in Cornwall tonight... I do so hate the wind the most...Hubby is back in now safe in the Harbour, luckily they have a very good weather system... I must find out which they use and report back:rotfl:
Hoping this dies off a little by morning or I may be selling fudge by candle light again:TThriftkitten

Yep they lied so much for the day's reprieve thrift kitten, I suppose I should focus on the positive least I don't have to straighten my hair this morning.
I'm behind on my winter prep this year as I wasn't supposed to still be in this drafty she'd so have a lot to catch up on been lulled by the warmer weather we've had of late, but can't put it off any longer.0 -

A little calmer this morning.... The pooch woke me up an hour earlier than my alarm this morning as she wanted a tinkle, on the plus side the wind has calmed a fair bit and the dark night sky is soooo pretty bright with stars...( every cloud and all)..
Hi Tori.k I love the way there was no mention at all on the news of the wind that was battering us last night, a lot worse than X ophelia, makes me very concerned that they are saying it's going to be a lot worse when 'Brian' comes through on Saturday...Thriftkitten

It was wild and woolly here last night, torrential rain and gusty winds that made the chimney howl like a banshee! still windy this morning but thankfully not wet.....yet! I am making contingency plans for 'Brian' (love the name too) in so far as I'm changing the stored water today, will bring down some tins from the store room and the biggest billy can along with the camping stove to make a stew tomorrow if the power goes off. Also bringing down some 'just add boiling water' mug shots and the camping kettle in case we need the stove all day and that will be supper along with a tin of fruit in juice and some tinned custard. We'll also make sure we have an adequate amount of logs indoors to see us through 24 hours and the message from Cookie dogs folks is don't come if it's too wild so we will be able to hunker down and ride it out with any luck. Moving the car just a little way down the drive too in case we get slates sliding off the roof and making sure the side gates are REALLY secure by tying them with bungee straps as well as latches and bolts as they tend to blow open and bang against the side wall in a really strong blow. Oh.....and I have chocolate!!!!!
We have a power pack charger that is always kept charged and ready to go!0 -
Good Lord Preppers, tis a wee bit blustery here in Cornwall this morning....
Just finishing my cuppa and need to let the chooks out, I'm sure they won't be out much today.
Busy day here today, it's my day off from selling fudge BUT I have 2 holiday cottages to clean so its an early start to get them finished, I'm sure the poor mites that have spent a small fortune to stay in them this week will be wanting a cuppa and to batten down the hatches before their allocated book in time of 3pm, so I better get my butt in gear and power walk the 15 mins walk down into town and get started....
I can see from the live webcam that it's high tide and looking very rough on the Harbour where one of my cottages are so I think I'll do that one last and give the tide a few more hours to receed...
DH ( a burly Fisherman) says it's due to get worse so fingers crossed the cottages are a swift clean, however, I am doubtful due to the proximity to the beach.... Sand everywhere known to man....
Well that's my moan, stay safe out there everyone and giving a little shout out to my Cornish side kick Tori.K:TThriftkitten

Hi everyone!
Please remember to plug in your analogue phone and make a call OUT on it. I had one plugged in, (think cheap and cheerful Hyacinth-Bucket-white-slimline-telephone) which I would answer occasionally and smugly think - yep, it's working.
One day tried calling my mum, and all the digits on one side were "dry"!***Mortgage Free Oct 2018 - Debt Free again (after detour) June 2022***
