Whilst I think a card is a really nice idea, I just hope you're prepared that a) everyone may not see it that way and b) may even see you as a "nosey neighbour". So just be prepared is all I would say.
Personally I'd find a card a really nice touch0 -

oh yes, I am 'prepared' I can assure you, I've had all kind of 'surprises' from people in my life, I take nothing for granted anymore and nothing shocks me/surprises me anymore eitherI have grown a thick skin :rotfl:
