a calendar for next year is a nice idea0

I think the present could make people think you're going to be over-friendly and want to get involved in their lives. You could actually make your neighbours distance themselves from you by trying to be nice to them.0

I've bought cards when someone new has moved in next door, but i wouldn't do prezzies. I've found it's the easiest way to get to know peoples names if they do a card back.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

With Christmas approaching, why not wait a bit for people to settle in and then send a Christmas card introducing yourself?Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670

Lovely!
Fingers crossed for you that they reciprocate in like vein.
You are likely to get a mixture of responses to a gesture like that...but it is a nice gesture and you should be able to get a few of the neighbours "on board" with that one.
It won't stop the "right wotnames" being right wotnames and there are always some of them...but its a good start and shows willing and hopefully a few of the neighbours will reciprocate in like vein.
Good luck.0 -
thank you everyone, keep the thoughts going, I love all the input, after all we are all different, we can't please them all or upset them all
most people seem to prefer just a card I see.
I am inclined to give a very little something, and I think I found that:
a small block of colourful 'post it' notes, I found some cheap ones on sale, most people find the 'post it' notes useful
but yes, best to wait a little for people to settle in, also not all 19 flats will be occupied immediately, I think there is only 6 of us moving in straight away0 -
Cards sound lovely but presents are too much, even little ones.0

A card to say hello is nice, but even better is a knock on the door and a personal introduction.
Which is what my neighbours did.
A present - no way.0 -
but even better is a knock on the door and a personal introduction.
I don't think that's a good idea. Lots of people will find saying Hello and passing the time of day with a neighbour is fine if you see them in the street, but they don't want people knocking on the door.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Honestly I'd say a big smile would go a very long way. I wouldn't leave myself open too much to everyone. There will be at least one clingy person around I'm sure. Cards if you like but I think a present is unnecessary.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
