Thanks everyone for sharing your planned menus
Croissants sound lovely for breakfast, but my sister and mother are the bakers and cooks in their house and i'll be happy to just eat whatever they make
The only thing I have to make is CE dinner, as they are both working till 5pm. I did threaten to buy a Chinese, but I think everyone would prefer a chilli, HM crusty bread, guacamole, loaded potato skins and possibly a dessert too.
I am really looking forward to it!0 -
Mixture of German and English traditions......
Christmas Eve: Sausages (see what 'specials' the butcher has on offer) with Bratkartoffeln (fried potatoes with onion) and/or German Potato Salad
Later on Christmas Eve...snacks and drinks whilst opening presents
Christmas Morning: Sausage and Eggs
Christmas Dinner: Turkey with all the usual additions including Mum's special red cabbage....No dessert as usually too stuffed!
Christmas Night: Grab what you want when/if hungry...usually Meat/cheese for a sandwich...Marzipan sweets...Pfefferkuchen(Spiced Biscuits) ...
And Mum always does a big pot of chickpea and mushroom curry for after Christmas - we like to go veggie for a few meals after overdoing the meat!0 -
We will have:
Brunch: scrambled eggs, croissants
Dinner at about 5pm - full turkey dinner. Pudding - I am planning on making pannacotta as light
Nothing more than that as will be too full but a few more bevvies!0 -
Since I've been living with the OH we have our own Christmas dinner (turkey and all the trimmings) on Christmas Eve night with some prosecco and christmas pudding. Then Christmas morning we have poached eggs, english muffins and smoked salmon before driving back to our home town. My parents will usually greet me with a sausage roll (it's my dad's tradition) then we'll have lunch about 2 (turkey with all the trimmings again). Christmas pudding comes somewhere in the afternoon before opening presents and then if we're still hungry then it's cold meat and pickles in the evening (and for every meal till the leftovers are gone!)Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170

I second that what!
NEVER heard of those, LOL..i presume you mean pigs in blankets?0 -
Breakfast, poached eggs and toast.
Family gathering 11am.... nibbles, cocktail sausages etc. Sparkling something or other aswell!
4pm ish, dinner. The usual, but as there just three of us this year, we won't pig out as much. No need to worry if there is enough to feed 10!
Have to say I am amazed at the number of veg dishes some of you have. One poster had EIGHT in his/her list, OMG!
We don't eat sprouts, so its, glazed carrotts, roasted parsnip, and cauli cheese. That's enough for me, leaves more room for the stuffing and roasties!!0 -
Oh, and another thing, what are these pigs in blankets?
I am not in the UK, and honestly have never heard of them!
Is it only at Christmas that the little piggies are on the menu?
Still dazed by the number of veg dishes some do...... whoa!0
