Misrepresentation Act 1967

You are correct! And that's my argument. Membership is for 12 months, BUT due to the time when I signed it (30th November 2012) and because they wanted full 12 months notice which had to be delivered to them by registered post by 1 December 2012 that gave me no time to actually do it and because of that it has automatically become a 24 month agreement.
What is the exact wording of the clause and did you agree to it when you signed up?0 -

What wording? About the notice or how it is to be served?0 -
I don't know about owning it, I think they are a brokerage within SMAE, they purchase block policies through another ins company and then re-sell it via their memberships, they say that memberships include insurance, but to be honest what does that association actually do for its members? They couldn't even answer my email request for information. IMO it's all cleverly set up to re-sell insurance premiums.
That's not my primary concern.
So you are sure that it is not newhall insurance owned by michael batt, who also is the principal of smae , a Tory councillor , who who flogged you this insurance linked membership..0 -

?? You say you were mislead. It now turns out the company they wheel out was newhall..I'm sorry but if you can't see it..captive audience..you say Coercion.. I'm sure the fsa would have something to say about this. Could be misselling of insurance-a regulated industry0

Sorry, I still don't understand how that would relate to this case. Perhaps you could explain it to me in layman's terms. I don't get politics.
You posted same link twice, perhaps you were trying to post 2 different links?0 -

The owner of this company has lots of money and influence and many businesses .
You'd be advised to get legal advice-as he already undoubtedly has.0 -
I am not trying to sue them, they locked me into a 12 month agreement with a 12 month notice from renewal date, making it a 24 month agreement. I later realised that they misrepresented and it was too late to give notice as it could only have been given on the day I signed the agreement. They are trying to get the membership fees for the following 12 months that I failed to give 12 months notice for. And I believe that the agreement should be rescissioned as I was pressurised into signing the agreement by means of misrepresentation by the claimant. They are saying that all these acts cover consumers and that they don't cover working professionals, but I WASN'T a working professional at the time, I just qualified.
What statement of fact did they tell you, which you believe to be a misrepresentation?0 -
