I pack the night before and put last things in just before i leave. What is the point in packing days or even weeks before ?
To give you time to remember things you might forget at the last minute.
It's one less thing to do as departure time approaches. Clearing out the fridge, taking cat to cattery, securing car/s on the drive, booking taxi to station, double checking tickets/passports/currency/hotel directions and booking refs etc....
I don't have anything that I have to leave until the last minute to pack, as I have a full kit of stuff that is exclusively for our travels. (Well only my railcard, as there's only one of those!)I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

good grief some people do make simple routine tasks hard work!
We often do a laundry load the day before travelling, to include that favourite hoodie, or something worn that week. Bunged in the bag the night before. Neighbours feed the cat. One car is locked the other goes to the airport. I will have checked the admin folder at each stage, it doesn't need checking twice. We rarely forget anything, and never anything that can't be bought at destination. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -

On the day i travel, all i have to check is that i have my passport and tickets and that i've locked the door.
Everything else will have been sorted the day before, along with the packing.0 -
I did the pack, unpack, pack again, for many months in advance, also I had to wait until he got the case down from the attic. Now I write my list, I have a set of holiday clothes ready to pack, the cases do not go in the attic, but I still take pics of myself in my holiday clothes
(camera don't lie), & pack about a week before, then spend the rest of the time in a state of sheer panic, writing & re-writing out lists, & buy new clothes. I can do 12kg for 2 weeks
I never roll clothes either as I find they crease more, I try & buy non crease clothes.

I'm very last-minute - sometimes I make a list but more usually I can be found stuffing items into a suitcase 30 minutes before I need to leave to catch a flight. I tend to travel quite light though, unless I think I'm going somewhere doing washing is going to be difficult.
On a related note (and why I'm really posting in this thread), has anyone tried using packing cubes? I keep reading about people who rave about them - as I have an extended trip coming up, I'm thinking about trying some.0 -
for me it's the level of comfort I get from knowing I'm packed early and that's done and out of the way. I get why others are quite happy to pack the night before...I would absolutely hate that and I don't see the point in waiting that late, myself...but my husband does.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0

also I had to wait until he got the case down from the attic.
This did make me laugh...my husband has put me on the 2-week rule, otherwise I would be likely to pack even earlier...he will not help get the cases out of the loft longer than 2-weeks before...I could probably just get them myself if I really, really wanted to but there would be some risk of serious bodily injury...so I wait.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Personally I'm a night before packer. It works for me. May not for others - viva la difference!has anyone tried using packing cubes?
Tried 'em? Never even heard of them? Quick google and the impression I get is just mini-suitcases to go in your suitcase and so waste valuable packing space by their very existence. But I am simply a cram-it-in-chaos packer0 -

Surely not!
(thanks for the review, saves me looking). The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0
