in Credit cards
on their credit card?
Just noticed this:
RECURRENT TRANSACTION 080-xxxxxxxxxxx Amazon Prime £79.00
on my card which is linked to my Amazon account. However I have never joined Prime nor want to. I checked my Amazon account and it shows that I am not a Prime member.
Of course I have contacted them to ask about this but was wondering if this is a one-off crock up or if others were affected. Oh, and check your card statements carefully!

You'll have joined up to their 1 month trial membership. Guess you bought something recently and selected "Free Prime Delivery". If not cancelled before the end of the trial, they're charge you for the year's membership automatically.0

When you make a purchase on Amazon, this is a sneaky little tick box that is pre-selected for you. It used to show as express delivery trial type thing.
When you go to your Amazon account/Account settings/Manage my Prime this should show you are a Prime Member, you can then select to cancel Prime Membership and in my experience this has been refunded to the card/account that it debited, normally within 48hrs.
Other thing I would check is if you have your CC linked to OH's Amazon account (if applicable)
If neither of the above apply then you need to be looking at cancelling your card and reporting a fraudulent transaction.
Hope this helps

That would seem the obvious explanation, but I am very careful to have not done that as I am aware it's caught people out.
Just to be sure I followed their instructions to cancel a Prime trial and when I go to the Prime membership page I got:
Hello Robatwork
You are not an Amazon Prime member.Important Message
You are currently not a member of Amazon Prime. Click here to signup.
So that shows I didn't join a trial. Mysterious, and not in a good way.0 -
Do you have an additional card holder on your CC?
Have they signed up accidentally?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. No just me, and just one card.
This actually gets a bit more mysterious.
Looking at my unconfirmed transactions there is a
22 Nov PURCHASE DOMESTIC REFUND 080-xxxxxxx Amazon Prime £66.36
on there. Bear in mind I hadn't contacted them until today this looks like they have noticed an error and tried but failed to correct it properly, and the worst bit (I can accept some human error) is no communications from them about this at all.0 -
almost gets me every time! It is so easy to get sucked into it and not click the little link that says no.0
-
That does look like it's an error then, I would speak to them again.
If it's an error and they have tried to put it right then fair enough but they need to make sure it's the correct amount. At the moment this is £12.64 short.
Hope you get it sorted.

Could it be that someone has ordered and then cancelled an order using your computer?
After all Amazon keep your card number on file so someone would not even need the card to do this?
Any kids wanting the latest game in your household??0 -
The code on the transaction is a number 080- and some numbers. I called it and whaddya know, Amazon prime!
So it's their mistake 100%. Just to reiterate - I am not a member, I didn't click by accident, and nobody else has used my account.
They have emailled to say.....it's a mistake but I need to call a number which I will do tomorrow. Will keep this thread updated for those interested.0 -
I had a rather tortuous conversation with Amazon but they have refunded the missing £12.64
I couldn't understand the person I was speaking to very well. I think we were both speaking English but it was the equivalent of sign language.0
