Kalixa Pay - shocking customer reviews
Comments

Read my replies here. I'm telling my experience but I must admit that this is the first time that I have a trouble with kalixa. I'm a kalixa customer since 2 years and I never had problems before.0

Finally I see my 100 euro loaded to my kalixa pay card statement. Since 2 september it's a huge delay but it's ok... I hope that next time that i send a bank transfer it will be loaded in regular times.0

I have a question,
if i use my kalixa in india i get the charge 2.25 pounds to use the atm.
if i were to go into the bank and ask for cash over the counter with my card and passport do i not then get charged the 2.25 or is this not possible?0 -

Hello from India,
You would have to ask them, but personally I would gladly pay a couple of pounds to use an ATM and avoid the hassle and long queues that using a bank counter here would involve.0 -

What did I tell you about paranoia?
All of the 'bad reviews' are from people who have not actually used the card.
Oh ok.
Here's my experience of Kalixa. I was probably one of the first to get one and to recommend it here on MSE and to eventually be transferred to the new Kalixa Pay.
Very easy to get with a passport number for ID and otherwise electronic verification. All well and good until I moved and wanted to change my address. They required ID again and not surprisingly proof of address. The documents I provided turned out to be not good enough and I had to provide more. And then yet again.
Then with the advent of the cheaper Pockit and the even cheaper Credit Union Prepaid VISA from ABCUL available to members of most credit unions, I wanted to close the Kalixa Pay and yet again ID and address verification copiously.
Now at this time I have two choices: Ignore Kalixa and eventually be faced with fees of 99p per month for dormancy or continue to use it. Oh there's a third option, Ombudsman Service.
In contrast Pockit, Rainbow Saver Credit Union, Aquacard, MBNA, TSB and Nationwide only wanted proof of my new address and a letter from my local council was good enough.
For me where Kalixa stands out from the rest is their inefficiency and I should really put a "damn" in there somewhere.
Kalixa is most definitely not recommended but hey, you've been warned and don't say I didn't tell you.
I link below to ABCUL and the Credit Union I support FYI.

You appear bitter about something totally unconnected to the performance in use. But of problems with your identification.
As to wanting to close the account....simply spend whatever balance you have on the card. You can do this to the last penny and it costs you nothing.
Instead you choose to 'spit your dummy out' and to point people in the direction of a much inferior card from a credit union. Quite childish, in my humble opinion. To suggest that they are better would suggest to me that you have rocks inside your head.
I've had not a single issue in use nor a problem with their customer service. Your behaviour here tells more about your personality than any issue with the performance of the Kalixa team.
Your not so wonderful recommendation, shaves off 1% the Visa rate on all foreign exchange transactions, whilst Kalaixa passes on the full Mastercard rate.
Your credit union charges you 50p to top up your card.
Kalixa charges nothing.
Your credit union charges 50p to send an SMS alert.
Kalixa charges nothing. So you can get an immediate alert for every transaction on your account.
So for what purpose a change of prepaid card to the credit union?? Especially as Kalixa is/was recommended for foreign travel.
It just appears that you are upset about the verification process, so you are trying to hurt their business with your spiteful behaviour.

In what way am I bitter? I merely outlined my experiences to show that some of those who have actually used it do write bad reviews. I've used it not for weeks or months but years. Used to be good but these days dated and bad value.
My credit union prepaid card also allows cashback at retailers so no need to use an ATM and therefore no ATM fee. With Kalixa it's £1.75. What about those for whom a prepaid card is the only option to receive wages and benefits and who are stuck with the exhorbitant ATM fee? Kalixa loading fee is only free if it's done online with a credit or debit card or via a bank account. What about those who don't have a bank account, debit card or credit card? The other options such as Skrill minimum £1 and Mastercard repower £3.50p service provider fee cost a lot more by comparison.
I don't mind the verification process but when it has to be done repeatedly I get bored with the inefficiency of it.0 -

Who has suggested using the Kalixa Pay card for wages or benefits?? Don't be ridiculous! One can get a basic bank account for that if necessary..or even a Revolut account.
You arguments are truly nonsensical. Are you topping your Credit Union card with Skrill and Mastercard RePower??!!
No...debit card and bank transfer are the usual methods and both are free with Kalixa and not free with your CU suggestion.
Does your CU even have online access? We already know that you have to pay for alerts.
You have really lost any credibility that you might have had, with your posts here.
Your ideas are a step backwards. Just a bitter post, trying to hurt someone's business because they wanted to verify your account and you could not provide proper verification. The fact is that you have fallen at this hurdle with other institutions.I have tried twice to open a FD account but was refused on each occasion. But then I asked myself, "What's so special about FD?" and never applied again. There are better banks out there who don't want your balls broken.
So you try to convince yourself that the CU card is better, after you bit your nose off in order to spite your face.
Nothing wrong with being disgruntled, but trying to push people towards an inferior product shows the true meaning behind your post. Simple childishness.
Pitiful. Really.0 -

See my point? First Direct comes highly recommended. But because you were refused, you became slightly sour. Here we see much the same reaction.

My last reply to your posts: It is a inescapable fact that prepaid debit/credit cards and also prepaid bank accounts are used by the "unbanked" who don't have a bank account either by choice or necessity. Even a cursory look through the posts on MSE will reveal that not everyone can get even a basic bank account. Such people don't have a bank account and therefore don't have a debit card. The only way Kalixa scores is that they accept loads online by credit cards which in the case of the unbanked would be a different prepaid card.
Please correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think this thread is about First Direct. You appear to be more concerned with personally attacking me rather than more reasonably replying to the topic of discussion. Bye-bye.0 -
I have a Kalixa card and I also got one for my daughter to use for emergency use when she started catching the bus to school.
I do not remember having to give ID of any form, she wouldn't have any ID at that time but we still have the cards.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
