Kalixa Pay - shocking customer reviews

A MSE user recommended Kalixa's Prepaid Travel Mastercard to me.
I was wondering if anybody here has any experience of the company?
On the face of it, their rates are highly competitive. However they have attracted some shocking customer reviews:
money.co.uk/prepaid-cards/card-issuers/Kalixa-Prepaid-Card.htm
These consistently seem to focus on Kalixa's poor customer service.
I would be interested to hear any further opinions based on actual experience with Kalixa...?
Thanks in advance.

Not again......
What did I tell you about paranoia?
All of the 'bad reviews' are from people who have not actually used the card.
To be fair, there was one who has appeared to have fallen foul to a security issue pertaining to how he was funding the card. We don't know the outcome.
To be able to activate the card, you need to supply documents confirming you are who you say that you are.
You can scan them and upload them. Mine were accepted first time within 24 hrs and my card fully activated.
As to Customer Service; as aforementioned, they credited my account with the Promo code discount as requested.
They can also send you free alerts with updates each and every time the account has been used.
If you run with ineptitude, you'll become inept.
Upload the proper documents and you'll have no problem.
Please stop..... with these threads.....0 -

It's certainly very possible that at least one of those aggrieved customers did not try hard enough to supply sufficient ID documents, but if you look at TheFirely2014's review for example, I'd say he may have a legitimate cause for complaint.
Anyway I don't want to take sides - we don't know the full facts on these cases - but the reviews are worth bearing in mind. (Especially as Kalixa are not endorsed by MoneySavingExpert - whatever the reasoning behind this.)All of the 'bad reviews' are from people who have not actually used the card.

Has anybody else used one of these Prepaid Kalixa cards?0 -
My I suggest that you may be a bit of a drama queen? There are six reviews.
Four of them negative.
Two of them are from 2012 and are pertaining to people who have not ever utilised the card because they thought they didn't need to supply identifying documents.
A third is from 2014 and again someone who has never utilised the card, as they didn't supply proper documents.
The fourth, from someone who had perhaps had fraud flagged up on the card that he used for topping up and was asked to supply details from this card. We don't know the outcome.
The other two reviews are from this year and are glowing, from people who have actually used the card.
Your subject title makes you look like yet another drama queen..shouting 'scam'.
As soon as they use this kind of language, we can be sure that it is not.
Try to choose you words more carefully, or you'll end up just another flash in the pan.0 -
Consider that you are so powerfully swayed by the MSE guide recommendations, have you actually looked at the UKASH Travel Money feedback thread?
How many glowing reviews do you see there?0 -
My eldest has just used Kalixa successfully in the Phillipines.
Impressed with the exchange rate. Thought the top-up process was a little slow once overseas, but he hadn't read the requirements properly so self-inflicted.
Overall very pleased with it.0 -
i would be very wary of forums members on here suggesting the KALIXA card to everything , could have a hidden agenda maybe they work for them or get a % to direct people to use the card"If I know I'm going crazy, I must not be insane"0

How would that work?
This from a 'member' who is still bitter after they were caught recommending Cash Passport Prepaid cards from supermarkets for each and every situation, regardless of it's suitability.0 -
I got a kalixa card for a business trip where I didn't trust the company to repay expenses in a timely fashion! I made them credit the card, and got my flights, hotel, meals etc on it. It works a treat online in UK, and in person in both Czech Republic and Romania. Crediting via debit card seems to work fine. I get a text when I spend over a pre-set amount. It's even pay-by-bonk. I get a weekly email summarising the account. Really can't argue with it, other than it's a non-UK helpdesk which can make things more difficult when you call up and try to solve an issue.0

There used to be a member plugging a particular supermarket's prepay card which, quite simply, wasn't anywhere near the good value Kalixa offers. That was something to be wary of. You might be aware of that member.
By the way, this whole site is funded by links. Those links have, since Moneysupermarket assumed ownership, been quite clearly tilted to those who pay most to MSE. You shouldn't assume a Martin Lewis mention is always the best product for your circumstances.
NB: I don't work for Kalixa and I've never met Nifty.0 -
I got a Kalixa card for myself and another for my daughter to carry for emergencies. Never had a problem.
I use mine to buy stuff in euro's. Works out much better than using paypal etc.
Card was free and i have never used it to withdraw money from a cashpoint. So zero charges.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
