So what happens when you try to access the BIOS using a keyboard plugged into the PS2 port?try a different PCI slotover 73 but not over the hill.0

In that case then I'd just use the PS2 port for now and report it on the motherboards manufacturers forum.0

Did you try the USB keyboard in other USB ports? What about the new USB3 ports?
That's just for interest though. You already had a workround from your original post - use the PS2 port. If the PC has one of those it's pretty old anyway so I doubt you'll get anywhere looking for a fix as you already have the latest BIOS.0 -
Is it by any chance a MSI board? I have/had the same problem with a TV card, which was actually a USB controller with the tuners attached to it the USB ports internally.
I had the clear the CMOS with the jumper on the mainboard or remove the card to get into the BIOS again. What a PITA...
So I would say it's a BIOS problem and if you already have the newest one you're out of luck...0 -
Is it by any chance a MSI board?
No.
The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-H61M-S2PV and the BIOS is ver FHover 73 but not over the hill.0 -
It might be worth checking for a USB firmware update because they often update to resolve problems. My 2+2 port Renesas based PCI-e card has had a couple of firmware updates so far.
Find out how you can check the current firmware version. Sometimes it shows in device manager but you might need to run an update to find out in some cases depending upon how well it works. My card shows the firmware version on device properties advance tab in device manager.0 -
No.
The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-H61M-S2PV and the BIOS is ver FH- 1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16
- 1 x PCI Express x1 slot
(All PCI Express slots conform to PCI Express 2.0 standard.) - 2 x PCI slots
Again, try resetting the BIOS in the way I've described earlier. Ideally before and after flashing the BIOS.0 -
unless the x16 is already occupied by a graphic card
There is also a satellite card and firewire card as well.
There is no problem when in Windows, it is getting into the BIOS when booting that is the problem.over 73 but not over the hill.0 -
I think you need to look at how you access the 2 different OS's. You should set the machine up as dual boot not go into the BIOS each time to select a different OS - that is doing things the hard way. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Well your motherboard supports onboard graphics. Why not try removing the graphic card first, then putting the USB 3.0 card in the PCI express x16 slot?0
