Hi PBS,
I know where you're coming from when you say you had nothing to show for your debt in 2011, I was in a similar position in 2012, and while my debt is now huge again I at least have home improvements and a car to show for it. I admire your ability to overpay your mortgage and your debt, hope to be in that position myself one day soon!0 -

Thank NOA, I try to achieve a few things each day and often I find I can go on and do more. But if I set out with a huge list, I'm too daunted and actually end up doing less!
Hope you are well - has OH made up his mind what job to accept yet?- Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746

First full day without OH today. He left last night for a week in the US for work. I miss him so much when he is not here. And I don't know if it is because it is so close to Christmas, or that I haven't been very well lately, but it feels worse this time too. The only positive is that I am so bored I usually get loads of extra cleaning done, which'll mean that everything should be nice and clean in time for Christmas.
First eBay sale came and paid and collected today so that'll be £120 going into the bank tomorrow. Not sure what to do with it yet. Savings, mortgage overpayment or set aside for Christmas?
Must pack up the Facebook sale as well, luckily I have some spare boxes and thick paper.
I have no expected expenditure today, we don't need any shopping.
Monthly interest is being added overnight and I have earned a £5 Amazon voucher for a panel that I participate in.- Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746

Nothing spent today, so racking up a NSD
I boxed up the Facebook sale and arranged a (free) courier. They're coming to the house tomorrow to collect.
I helped DD with her home work and bathed DD and DS. I walked the dog and did two wash loads, but had to use the tumbler to get them dry
We had a nice lunch at my parents house and the kids had a lovely time playing with them. I took photos and measurements of four items that I am selling for them on ebay.
I still need to do a post-weekend tidy up, get the kids to bed, iron the school uniforms and make a start on listing my parents ebay stuff.
Best get cracking!- Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746

I am not having a good day!
Read the meters and our energy usage is up 16% on this month last year!
However, it gets worse...
The courier came to collect the parcel, which was in the boot of the car, and I could not find the car key! So he had to leave empty handed30 minutes later I found the key under DS's bed! I have rearranged pick up for tomorrow, but not 100% sure that they won't now charge me for this. I also need to print new delivery labels and I can't get the printer to talk to my laptop! DH would normally sort this out for me!
However, it gets even worse!
In today's post came a 'Notice to Pay' from HMRC for the Tax Credits overpayments, complete with giro payslip. They want £1830 by January 5th! I promptly rang them and said, "No, you can have £150 a month until the balance is clear." They agreed to this and we can afford it, but is is a pain and means that we now won't be debt free until November 2015 instead of September 2015 as previously planned.
As, if that wasn't enough...
The hinge on our back door is breaking / broken and I am having trouble locking it. Technically this should still be under guarantee by Everest, but the last time I called them out for the same problem they did nothing. It is now much worse and I am very annoyed! I am just trying to muster up enough energy to call them about it.
But wait, there's more!
I went to iron the kid's school uniforms and DH has burnt some black material onto the bottom of the iron. I have no idea how he manages to do this so frequently. The tube of 'burnt stuff' remover I have is nearly empty so I will have to buy some more, but our nearest LakeLand store is 25 miles away and I am not due to go there for over a week...
And FINALLY! I have also had to spend money
£6.00 - DD Christmas tights for nativity show (not so bad considering she'll be wearing last year's Christmas jumper)
£1.50 - yoghurts
£2.50 - fruit
£2.75 - night-time nappies for DS
Total = £12.75 - and I forgot my Tesco price promise voucher for 79p
All in all I feel like crying- Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746

Hi PBS,
That's a long list of stuff  and qualifies very definitely as having a bad day:( and OH away too.
Don't cry though, Put the kettle on and I'll join you for a cuppa, and you can have a moan at me (am a good listener). Then when you have offloaded you can phone Everest. Re black stuff on iron, sometimes I can get it off by turning iron up to highest setting and putting a wad of kitchen paper towel on the edge of the ironing board and "wiping" off stick stuff - worth a try - the black stuff "melts" and sticks to kitchen paper.
Chin up and soldier on, think about the successes with your de-cluttering sales :T

Try cola on the base of the iron. It sometimes will lift stuff off. You may need to prop it so that it soaks for a bit - douse a tissue and leave on surface. Just make sure to run the steam through a few times after to avoid cola stains on clothes.Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 11st 12lb determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes.
