Don't download any other browser ... until you've finished the rest of the tasks ND has outlined.

Of course, after that there's nothing stopping you downloading and using another browser if you wish - I use Chrome as my default browser.

  • Susan1942 WHY on earth do you want all those toolbars?

Or have they been added when you've downloaded/updated things and you've not noticed that you can stop them being installed by (usually) unticking the often carefully disguised option box?

Get rid of them, unless you actually use one of them. Then get rid of the others.

Sorry don't understand what you mean by all the toolbars I only seem to have one showing which is File Edit View etc I am not very savvy where technical things are concerned Just muddle through and hope all is well
Thanks but would appreciate if you could explain what you mean Along the bottom I have got the toolbar with all the usual things like Firefox IE printer etc as well as Norton The Laptop was set up for me by someone and I do have not really altered anything
    Regards Sue
  • Good Morning Susan:)

Unfortunately the PM you sent me never arrived. I've checked my PM inbox regularly since you told me you'd sent it, including just now as sometimes the site runs slowly especially at weekends, but no sign of it:(

Would you like to try again please?

Did you intend the question about the toolbars for me, Mercenary? I'm the one who started the thread and was asked by bod in an early post to list my add-ons etc. I used to use the Nectar toolbar but I've now deleted it instead of just disabling it. The BT toolbar came with my BT internet and I use it. The McAfee Site Advisor is more of a search box than a toolbar, it came with my security supplied by BT and I use it every time I need to search for a website. I can't see how/why I need to get rid of either of these.

PUP stands for 'potentially unwanted programme'. Was it this one?
